New York state APPROVES $15 minimum wage for fast-food workers...the first time ANY state has set it that high
New York state will gradually raise the minimum wage for fast-food workers to $15 an hour the first time any state has set the minimum that high.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo's administration formally approved the increase Thursday a move the Democratic governor announced at a labor rally with Vice President Joe Biden. Cuomo said he will work to pass legislation setting a $15 minimum for all industries a promise that comes as more and more cities around the country move toward a $15 minimum wage.
'Every working man and woman in the state of New York deserves $15 an hour,' the governor told the enthusiastic crowd of union members. 'We're not going to stop until we get it done.'
Biden predicted the $15 wage for fast-food workers would galvanize efforts across the country.
'You're going to make every single governor in every single state in America look at themselves,' he said at the rally in New York City. 'It's going to have a profound impact.'

Oh, it’s going to have a profound impact alright, but not what they think. These people are nuts.
In your 4 million dollar bachelor apartment : )
So, the State of New York is nationalizing the operations of all fast-food dives?
It’s just a set up to demonize employers so the puppet masters can usher in socialism...
Hello inflation.
Can you say Robots?
And, once they get it then can complain, like Oregon, that they made to much money and lost out on government handouts because of it and now want their hours slashed. The low information voter......just stupid.
Yes, more automation to replace employees in New York, less small businesses in New York, harder for the young in New York.
The Welcome Mat will be out in the surrounding states.
Invest in food preparation robots.
Then, solve a problem with illegal immigration with a $20 per hour minimum wage for all construction and manufacturing employees.
So New York is worried that it has driven too many high earners out of the state with its insane tax policies so they are looking for a way to drive low wage jobs out of the state too as a way to balance it out.
Why are they targeting only 1 industry...if they really cared about “the people in the shadows”.
I see borderline fast food establishments in the future.
A taco bell burrito just increased in price in NY.
Do the small businesses get tax deductions for every employee they hire at this new tax increase i wonder
What about fast food that is family owned and operated? just a slight change to the definition of fast food ...
Do democratic politicians that donate heavily to unions get a waiver on their fast food franchises?
++++
But those efforts, well underway I'm betting, will be aimed at developing automation systems that will replace those over-priced fast-food workers.
“Can you say Robots?”
Or the old Hew York-style lunchenetts, where food was behind a glass door, and you paid and opened it to get your sammich. Easily done with credit/debit cards.
Aka the robot and automation potentiation act.
