Most cheap routers provided by ISPs simply can’t handle the kind of WIFI traffic that is asked of them.

Your best best is to buy an ASUS RT-N66U Router, plug it into your ISP supplied router via ethernet cable and stream from the WIFI on the ASUS. All routers are not created equal and essentially the only one I recommend to anyone is this ASUS router. The rest will cause issues, lockup, have crappy range, insufficient bandwidth..etc.

Can’t say what will help, but Amazon doesn’t stream well to my DVD/bluray players, but does just fine streaming to my Roku on the same network.”

For some strange reason the Amazon Prime would sometimes freeze when I had it streaming through the Amazon TV box.

With a Roku box installed, though, Amazon Prime does not freeze.

Since wifi may be the problem, check out Western digital live wire it is a powerline adapter to connect your router to other locations in the house and it acts as a 300mb hub. You can encrypt the data transfer so no one can access your network.

IN addition to other responses:

(1) Amazon App on the Samsung device is outdated and needs an upgrade.

(2) Cox is running a shakedown over peering agreement to carry Amazon traffic- deliberate slowdown in packet traffic for certain class of devices?

(3) A different DNS for Amazon being accessed by a computer versus movie box?

Correct. Amazon streaming sucked with our samsung TV and blu-ray players. Something wrong with the Samsung app combined with Amazon’s streaming options.

Basically, Amazon will stream at the highest rate it detects. So if it detects you have the bandwidth to run 1080, that is what it will stream at. Just watch how your data usage skyrockets with Amazon versus Netflix, which allows you to adjust it down. Unfortunately, if it is trying to stream 1080 and your connection drops to 480, hello buffer.

I fixed it by going to Sony blu-ray players and Cox doubled our internet speeds. I consistently get 80-100 mbps now on Cox. I also get 700GB of data usage a month, so I dumped the cable TV and stream everything. Family of 5 and we have yet to get close to the data cap.
