I believe that what we’re looking at is just slow, plodding police work that will never make the news because the keyboard Kommandos want answers in time for their deadline. Don’t know if you’re familiar with this but, in Palatine, Illinois, there was an armed robbery at a Brown’s Chicken outlet where seven people were murdered. The media was bitching about incompetent cops, causing several to lose their jobs. It took ten years to solve that case and that only because someone had saved evidence until DNA technology had advanced far enough to use it.

I tend to take news accounts more or less at face value and had no reason to question this one. That update is the last I know of the policeman. From the beginning I thought it strange that a policeman would call for backup, then take off on foot in the dark in pursuit of three men rather than wait in the car. If there really were three men, the policeman could have been afraid that they would get away, but if he did go on a foot chase, it was a very risky thing to do in several ways.
I remember that awful murder and that it was eventually solved but don't remember any details of it, fortunately.

I read on the Daily Maul last week that the coroner doesn’t rule out suicide as the cause of death.
