A company operating more than 1,100 clothing drop-off bins in New York has agreed to pay $700,000 to settle claims that it falsely advertised its operation as charitable while selling donated items for big profits, prosecutors said on Thursday.

Two charities named on Thrift Land bins received a monthly fee of about $1,000 for the use of their names and logos, the settlement said.

Naw I had a freeper insist earlier this year that this sort of misdirected donation was all good because it still upcycled old things and some money still trickled to the poor.
