Another day in paradise.
Just another average day in the Windy City. It’s never going to stop.
I wonder what color the guns were that did all that the shooting?
And the only sound thatâs left
After the ambulances go
Is Cinderella sweeping up
On Desolation Row

Years ago, the Marquette Park area was a nice middle class neighborhood on Chicago’s southwest side. Sadly, that area has gone downhill.
I lived in the Marquette Park area for a couple of years when in my 20’s. Even then the neighborhood was changing, and I moved out when a punk gang of kids were breaking the window of a parked car, my friend and I reported it to the Cops, and the cops came straight to our front door to talk to us, and the gang of boys saw this. Later they came under our windows and tried to set the foyer of our apartment building on fire. Needless to say my friend and I who had rented apartments there, both moved out fast. Neighborhood has totally gone to seed. First it went Hispanic, and then they were chased out by all the Blacks moving in. I can imagine what it is like now. Totally ruined. It once was a lovely neighborhood, with mostly Lithuanian, Polish, German, etc. living there. And Marquette Park is/was a beautiful park. So sad.
Getting an early start on the weekend...
Was the shooter driving away in a black or dark blue Chevrolet Suburban with DC plates?
Getting a GOOD early start on the weekend.Very few of those shot there are innocents.
That can’t be right. Schools are “gun free” zones.
I grew up there. The shootings all take place within about 6 neighborhoods, Black ghetto, and did when I was in high school there in the 60s. The city elsewhere is OK.
“BLACK GUNS MATTER!”
( They have t-shirts with that now.ha)
I’m guessing the perps were Korean kids knocking off rivals in the Physics Club.
I used to hang on 69th St. My dad worked at Holy Cross. Never lived in Marquette Park, though. It still makes me sad thinking about what happened to that neighborhood.
One of my neighbors is from Chicago and says that the problem area is a small part of the overall city. She says the Chicago she lived in and still visits is really very nice. It’s a shame a small faction in the city ruins the reputation of the rest of the city. Most large cities have areas of danger and lawlessness in them.
