All in the Family The Little Atheist
YouTube ^ | November 24, 1975 | Norman Lear; Lou Derman

Posted on 11/25/2015 9:21:54 AM PST by WhiskeyX

All in the Family revolved around the life of a working class bigot named Archie Bunker and his family. The show set new broadcast standards by tackling issues previously considered unsuitable for U.S. network television comedy, such as racism, homosexuality, women's liberation, rape, miscarriage, abortion, breast cancer, and the Vietnam War. Throughout the 70's the series became one of television's most influential comic programs, as it interlaced radical issues of the day with the live audience sitcom format.

In this episode, Its Thanksgiving and Archie decides its time to make sure that his future grandson is not raised an Atheist. He ends up in a hilarious debate with his non-believer son-in-law over the existence of God.

Norman Lear crap.

Of all those old shows, All In The Family holds up bad.

As it turns out Archie Bunker was not the bigot he was portrayed to be, he was right 95%+ of the time.

Was Rob Reiner even acting in that episode? Seems to me that he was just voicing his beliefs.

Norman Lear was said to be horrified when he realized people in TV land weren’t laughing at Archie Bunker, they were laughing with him.

Carroll O’Connor, the liberal actor who portrayed Archie, was not amused, either. He was trying to reeducate the masses, after all.

Rob Reiner is truly Meathead to this very day.

Rob Reiner has done some excellent work behind the camera..."Spinal Tap" and "Princess Bride" come to mind, immediately.

Too bad that he's such a liberal idiot.

What are the odds that All in the Family would be able to air today? I’m gonna go with “ZERO”

Well, yeah. Except that Jack Nicholson was supposed to be “The Bad Guy” and Tom Cruise was supposed to be “The Good Guy” .... only I reversed the roles.
