With my mandolin I play and sing the hymn, Nothing But The Blood, and the second hymn, I sing A-Capella the song, I'd Rather Have Jesus, in my back yard. This song was on my heart and I wanted to sing it to you and if you listen I know you will be Blessed. The music for that tune was composed in 1939 by George Beverly Shea, the renowned gospel singer. Shea was still performing almost up to the time of his death in 2013 at the age of 104. Thanks for watching and I wish a Happy and Peaceful Thanksgiving to all.
Amen brother.
“Nothing But the Blood” was written by Robert Lowry and published by Howard Doane—two of the heavyweights among post-Civil War American Protestant hymn writers—in 1876. It was often performed by the Old Fashioned Revival Hour Chorus Choir, to which my mother belonged, on its weekly radio program during the middle decades of the twentieth century.
I wish you a happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks for your info on the wonderful hymn. :)
Thanks s million.
