With my mandolin I play and sing the hymn, Nothing But The Blood, by Robert Lowry and the second hymn, I sing A-Capella, I'd Rather Have Jesus, the music for that tune was composed in 1939 by George Beverly Shea, the renowned gospel singer. Shea was still performing almost up to the time of his death in 2013 at the age of 104. End hymn is, Pass Me Not O Gentle Savior, written by William H. Doane, is covered by me, o7jimmy and has a floral back ground of roses, rare flowers, sang A-Capella.

Some of you have already heard of this amazing singing group, but many of you have not. Let's fix that. Here's just a great little musical interlude for your Easter Sunday morning. No, it's not Easter music....but amazing, nonetheless. The group is called Perpetuum Jazille from Slovenia. I've picked three favorites to share with you, two of which are their renditions of songs by the band Toto (done a capella; as you've never heard them before). First, "Africa" (my absolute favorite); a stunning vocal arrangement (turn up your speakers, especially for the beginning "human rainstorm"): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09LQlfMmW7s Second, from the same...

Today Rob Henry, 42-year-old baritone of the Gas House Gang (1993 SPEBSQSA champions) died from cancer. The Gas House Gang took barbershop music into the 21st-century as they later became the acapella singing champs of the world. If you ever have a chance to hear Rob's solo in "Still Can't Say Good-bye", please do. It will touch you, especially if you love your father and the joy of perfect harmony.
