Author James Dawson has received backlash from parents for his guide to growing up LGBT, This Book Is Gay, claiming they no longer feel comfortable taking their children to the library if his book is on the shelves, reports The Guardian.
In Wasilla, Alaska, after a 10-year-old boy picked up the book from the juvenile non-fiction section of the public library, his mother was "shocked to find it contained frank drawings and descriptions of gay sex acts inside".
The mother launched an appeal after she was told by the local librarian that it was appropriately shelved, leading to dozens of locals banding together at a council meeting on Monday to debate the issue.

Exactly.
At my much smaller city library I used to frequently attend before the internet, we had all those publications plus something called "The Progressive."
The latter is just as leftist as the other mags, but has the "virtue" of originating in Madison, Wisc. making it Wisconsin's contribution to the world of leftist politics. Am I ever thrilled. /s
However, I am grateful to my library for stocking "Conservative Chronicles." That was like a Readers Digest of conservative articles and did a lot to push me off the fence from moderate to conservative.
I understand the book is disgusting but now parents need a safe space in place of visits to the library? Everyone in the country is going mad!
I don’t steal, but I have been known to “re-shelve” books with content like that. They may end up in a school library’s old card catalog cabinet, in the public library behind a dusty top-shelf row of books in Russian, or elsewhere that innocents will not stumble over the filth.
Just out of curiosity...
Wasilla Public Library:
koran - 108 titles
Holy Bible - 34 titles
But in what is now Bizarro Obamaland (formerly the USA) it is not aberrant, it is the ‘new normal’.
I’ve never has an issue getting a book through the interlibrary loan program. Granted, none were of the “banned” variety.
