We always knew they were coming back. After INDEPENDENCE DAY redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. Has it been almost 20 years since "Independence Day" came out. Feeling those bones creek. :) The charm of the original one was it was about rather ordinary people, including the POTUS, rising to the challenge.

The president is a woman in this one, just in time for the Democrat convention.

Sounds like a great story line, though... Not a hokey 2nd effort

Hey, at least it won't have Will Smith on it (heard he wanted $50 million).
And apparently the stripper is now a scientist.

The first movie ended with the world in almost a pre-industrial state, 90% of everything was destroyed, including population. Or so it seemed. Yet the Earth has modern aircraft, ships, etc., to fight the next invasion.

After that what was left of humanity was highly productive.

Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. Sounds like a rehash of the later seasons of Stargate SG-1.

And did they put Jeff Goldblum on the moon? I think we're going to see fantastic special effects with a rather poor story line.
It probably would have been pretty cool to see a sequel of them rebuilding from the rubble. How their unity holds up or breaks down, etc.

You see now, that's just brilliant. I would have never considered that. Thanks.

Sela Ward? I wouldn’t bet on her looks having held up.
No Fresh Prince but plenty of Jeff Goldblum?
Hope this doesn’t suck.

I will have to watch this when it hits pay per view. I don’t see how it will match “Independence Day” but you never know.
Independence Day is my much watch, every 4th of July. I love it.
