“It ain’t decreed, it’s just good advice. That is, if you want a snowball’s chance in hell of winning conservative votes.

It’s not quite as bad as, say, trashing Reagan or Barry Goldwater, but he is almost as well liked as they are.”

This is a primary. George H.W. Bush severely criticized Reagan during their campaign — remember Bush’s charge of “voodoo economics” against Reagan’s economic policies? There were all kinds of negative things being said by Reagan’s opponents against him.

spout GOPe Talking Points against Cruz.

Cruz isn't the perfect guy either so let's not get our panties in a bunch when someone points out the warts on your candidate.

Calling him a maniac in Congress? So what - He IS A bit of a wild man

That was my first thought. It takes a maniac to want to go in there and fight the GOPe. Being a maniac is a compliment. Playing nice with the GOPe gets you another Boehner.

Sure, it’s a primary, but that doesn’t mean conservatives are going to like it any better when you trash a conservative hero...

Saying “George H.W. Bush did it!” isn’t going to help either, because conservatives are no fans of George H.W. Bush, or hadn’t you noticed?

Mr. Trump made clear that he considered Mr. Cruz’s remarks as an attack and warned that he would regret the decision.

Maybe so but what is his excuse for the asinine comments about Scalia

Bad information and falling into a trap set by Jake Tapper. I am sure he will be asked about it tonight.

Trump is currently down a massive 10 points against Hilary Clinton. And that is after Trump getting more free media publicity and exposure than any presidential candidate in history. Not even Barack Obama dominated media coverage in 2007 like Trump has in 2015. And after all that, he still sits at 10% behind Hilary Clinton according to the latest NBC poll? That is abysmal. By contrast, Ted Cruz who has been denied much media exposure and is still unknown to a big segment of voters, is only 3 points behind Hilary Clinton, well within the margin of error. Cruz is full of upside. Trump? Not so much. Voters pretty much know all they need to know about him, and so far they prefer the corrupt Hilary Clinton.

Considering this was a poll of "registered" voters it means he's in a tie AND she hasn't had to answer a single tough question yet - he'll win in a walk.

I do like Ted Cruz, but not a lot of evangelicals come out of Cuba, in all fairness. It's true.”

"What the hell does that mean?"

It means Donald Trump is retarded.

Ummm no. It doesn't mean anything of the kind. Trump will get slaughtered by his close pal Hilary, if Republicans are stupid enough to nominate him.

I'll admit Trump, with no voting record to review, is entertaining taking down the MSM and RINOs like Lindsey Graham & Chris Christie.

I was actually thinking the two were partnering up a bit, but calling Cruz a 'maniac' & criticizing his fights against the Democrats & GOPe Leadership was stupid.

If Trump doubles-down on his Cruz attacks tonight, he will get his ass handed to him by the smartest guy on the stage.

Except for his neoconfederate Neo abolitionist blather I love Levin but I find Rush far more entertaining

But neither pick for me

Each of them prefers Cruz but they will take Trump

Levin is really smart but he knows when he’s lying but he’ll push it

Rush is just interesting and self deprecating as hell

Beck....I could give shite....a idiot weak on history race baiter...detest is thy name

Only problem I have with this is the Scalia thing

I was referring to the primaries in’80. Back then, Reagan was NOT the conservative hero he is today. Just about everything negative that can be said about a candidate was said about him. Back then, I assumed everyone liked Reagan (young and dumb) and I got into trouble voicing it.

Who decreed Cruz a conservative hero? He may be to you but not to me. I have his voting record in mind.

I just heard Rush say the moratorium on Muslim immigration was just common sense. Most people say that, except our political leaders, including Cruz. That is the way of politicians — they can always find reasons to avoid common sense policies. Maybe Cruz has a judgment problem. Cruz would prefer to play Russian roulette with peoples’ lives and be politically correct, not a strong conservative position.

At this stage of the disintegration of our country, a fighter/doer/leader who can represent all citizens of The USA is more important and preferable to a perfect 100% conservative who doesn’t have those abilities and certainly preferable to a socialist globalist.

” Ted Cruz who has been denied much media exposure and is still unknown to a big segment of voters, is only 3 points behind Hilary Clinton, “

You just answered your own observation, and naively attribute it to some special affection that people have for a person whom most likely have seen scant coverage of.

That is what happens when you stay off to the side and avoid as much exposure as possible. That isnt going to last.

What on Earth makes you think The Democrats, Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan & Reince Priebus would treat Trump any different than they treat Ted Cruz?

It’s not about how those people would treat Trump. It’s about how Trump would handle them.
