And you don't think that running for the Republican nomination is business for him? At the moment it is in his self interest to sound conservative. However, given that he changes his public positions based on his self interest, do you really think that he will stay a conservative when it becomes in his best interest to swing to the left and attract the support of moderates in the general election.

My only concern is that he's blowtorching The Media, and removing their testicles with a dull knife, to their faces.

Did you see how many Media cockroaches exposed themselves as Clinton shills with the "heckler" this weekend?

This is AWESOME. It's going to be a slaughter this go-around, unlike the impeachment wars.

The Media doesn't stand a chance, and it's all thanks to Trump.

Good point.

Coomo aksed him a fair question and he gave an honest answer. Yeah, the answer is troublesome but it does expose the protection racket scheme that politics has become.

It would have been nice if he would've said that, as President, he will put an end to such extortion like practices.

But, maybe he won't. Hard to say.

As a businessman, I think it will be harder for him to engage in organized crime tactics simply because he doesn't have the apparatus and enforcers in place.

Call me a hypocrite if you will, but I'm still a Trumpeteer.

“However, if Trump becomes the nominee, let alone the president, it will start to be in his self interest to abandon his current positions and evolve to the left.”

Why? Trump is not an ideologue unless you want to consider capitalism an ideology. Trump’s single goal is to make America great again. Will it benefit Trump? Sure. Will Trump nominate some lib to SCOTUS? I seriously doubt it since it will fly in the face of capitalism.

The outcome of the impeachment sure makes it look that way to most Americans!

Pragmatic. Does it change my vote for him? Hell NO! I’m voting for Donald Trump. GO TRUMP!!!

Will you say the same thing if/when Trump is "pragmatic" in dealing with Reid, Ryan, McConnell, and Pelosi?

Does Donald Trump think Bill Clinton was impeached for sex with an intern?

It doesn't matter. The Media Clinton shills won that round.

They think they're going to be able to do it again.

Of course, Custer thought he was going to be able to ride through the Sioux nation with his handful of men, too.

All we have to do at Free Republic is what Buckhead did for Danny Rather & Mary Mapes.

Be there for the surround. We will take many scalps, brother.

Everyone needs to take a deep breath and tell themselves the hard truth...

In the past BOTH Trump and Reagan were Democrats.

Or as Churchill would say, “If you’re not a liberal when young you don’t have a heart - AND if not a conservative when older you don’t have a brain.”

Yes, people grow up... you, me, Trump, Reagan, Churchill... lots of us...

These are the realities of a tyrannical regulatory gruberment.

And you actually think that he will change that if/when he is in charge of it all, when it is not in his interest to do so at that point?

Trump doesn’t really care why Clinton was impeached. Trump has stated numerous times that Bill Clinton was his favorite President.

If Americans want to see reaching across the isle to sell out the American people taken to extremes never seen before, it would hsppen in a “Lets Make a Deal” Trump Presidency.

I have no confidence in that hope. I don’t want a “deal maker”, I want a leader. Making deals with Harry Reid and Clintons is what got us in this mess.

Considering that he's blowing the whistle on it in front of God and everybody - yes.

You dont seem to understand the difference between having to get along with everyone to run a successful business and leading a country.

It’s just bad business to alienate most of your customers.

It’s fundamental to governing to alienate a lot of people.

“Because I was afraid I might commit Arkancide if I didn’t support them” would have been a good answer to that question.

The more he talks and the more I research him the less and less likely I will be able to cast a vote for him.

I don’t trust him. He’s a popular candidate. He’s say’s the right things to get the support of many here on FR but he is not for traditional values.

Trump is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

I don’t consider Bush and Rubio worth wasting time on, at this point. I have posted numerous articles exposing Rubio in the last weeks, but I see him on the decline.

What you posit does not reflect reality, IMO.

Businessmen and Politicians. Not much difference between them when it comes to “self interest”, is there?

Mr. Trump is a successful Businessman. Most politicians are not.

Appealing to the broadest group of voters is the goal of most who are trying to win an election. That is normal, is it not?

The part that doesn't make sense concerning your belief that it would be in his self interest to evolve to the left. A successful businessman can see that the policies of the left are destructive to this country and the productive workers that make it viable. Why would he shift to the left and continue the ruinous policies that have on a path to failure? That doesn't “compute” as far as I'm concerned. It's a given that there are many corporations and other wealthy businessmen who are in bed with the left, but they don't seem to want to peddle their influence directly to the voters like Mr. Trump does (at this time). So, there is a difference, but whether or not it is significant I cannot tell.

I'm sure it's possible, but it really doesn't make much sense, and to turn his back on those who bring him to office would push the country over the cliff.

Of course, anything can happen, but Mr. Trump's self interest would seem to be against the status quo.
