Cops Shocked by Snow-Covered Car on the Road in Massachusetts
New York Daily News ^

That’s what you might call a restricted view.

Police in Massachusetts were shocked when they spotted this car on the road in Wellesley.

They quickly pulled the driver over Wednesday to point out they may need to clear their windshield of snow.

And when they shared the picture on Twitter, neighboring force Burlington Police asked if perhaps the driver was wearing glasses with x-ray vision.

“That is very…special. Were they driving with these?” they replied on the social media site.

Police departments in the area have been warning drivers to clear windshields and roofs of snow and ice before hitting the road to avoid accidents.

I have to admit to doing the “porthole” thing here in NM, but it’s a rural area and we get real snow and ice.

Ugh. That's completely inexcusable.

They're not difficult to use.

Oh please. I use to drive to work with a way smaller hole.

I might be guilty of doing that once or twice. I might have had to pull over and let the windshield thaw a mile down the road once because common sense and self preservation instincts were late to work that morning in this FReepers brain.

I don’t buy it that the cops actually saw somebody driving that way. The carowner could have cleared the windshield by just turning on the wipers.

Looking at it again, I’d bet the cop cleared that spot looking for the VIN.

He has an excuse. He has no peripheral vision so doesn’t need to clear any more snow.

I once had the entire windshield wiper come off in my hand during a mixed snow/sleet storm. Not fun.

Not necessarily. We had freezing rain over snow a couple weeks ago. Wiper motors wouldn’t stand up to that. My solution was to contribute to gore-bull warnings by running the car until the crud melted and fell off in chunks. This guy might have been more rushed than I was.

I remember driving with a buddy of mine in a VW bug (no heater) in the snow with him trying to keep the inside of the windshield from freezing using a bic lighter.

That was about the same time he narrowly missed taking the front end off an Aston Martin Lagonda with said Bug.

Damn, we were stupid back then.

Wipers don’t work on frost.

Wipers don’t work on frost.

That isn't frost. It's one inch of snow in above freezing temperatures.

Probably just an Obama supporter out practicing their hazardous winter driving skills.

How do we know there aren’t a bunch of little green men in there?

Drove from Mass to Maine in an old 72 Mazda Rx-2 with a woefully inadequate defroster in a mild snowstorm. The "viewport" would get smaller and smaller until forced to stop and scrape off the ice and procede a few more miles. Made my passengers quite nervous with me peering out a 4" diameter hole in the ice.

Dunno how people live in those climates, have to have better defrosters now..

This is the Obama-era version of Michael Knight’s K.I.T.T. car. It drives itself into a ditch when it senses danger.
