It would appear to me what’s being monitored are sub stations for power distribution in this case. Hardly hidden cameras. Being wireless as well makes them super easy to hack into the IP Address.

Yeah they are and they just opened the door for numerous county, state and federal charges against themselves. I’m not as well versed in SCADA (as I would like to be) but am well acquainted with rolling out CIP5. Now that particular power company has to send people back out to re-install camera’s which (since these seem to be new based on reports) hoses up their project plan not to mention they have to re-certify that particular leg of the ESP.

“Those people in the video are really ignorant.”

IQs about their shoe sizes.

They will be in trouble. Mark my words. Those cameras are not what they think. Wow are they stupid. And an utter embarrassment.

They made no attempt to really damage the property, so if the feds weren’t accessing the video, the power company will likely be satisfied to just have them returned.

They aren’t wireless, they are on SCADA.

I can tell you from first hand experience, those cameras are used for initial diagnosis when there is a problem with the grid in that locale. There is not some evil government stooge monitoring those camera’s 24x7. The companies that own them get a quick idea of what might be an issue so they know what and who to send (beyond all the physical layer monitoring built into those stations) for repair. I agree with you, camera’s are everywhere; but with knowing what a bitch CIP5 is, it makes perfect sense to me these things are popping up now in the 11th hour of the rollouts.

It’s vandalism - that is a crime. They won’t be charged for the crime of stupidity though, too bad.

Don’t do that we don’t want to look as stupid and ignorant as them. This thread ought to be pulled.

Agree. Utterly ignorant, and probably too stupid to be ashamed of it. Wow. And all on video.

It may be vandalism, but if the power company doesn’t press charges, there won’t be a prosecution. That’s the real world. If prosecuted, the defendants would have discovery available to see if the feds had access to the video. If so, it gets REAL interesting.

He sounded smart, but he looks like he had a birth defect, injury or stroke.

There is no need to insult these people.

If they belong to the power company and the feds convinced the power company to provide video access, they’d need a warrant which at some time would have to be produced.

Why would they need a warrant? A simple subpoena would suffice, unless the video feed is statutorily protected.

Thanks for insulting me. I never thought of myself as a moron. I am happy you have enlightened me.

What advanced degrees do you have? Let’s share.

Those cameras are there for FERC compliance. That’s federal.
