Ronald Colman stars in this madcap comedy about an eccentric genius named Beauregard Bottomley (Colman), whose intellect has often been more hindrance than help in securing steady employment. After a particularly dismissive interview with the scheming and vain soap industry magnate Burnbridge Waters(Vincent Price), Bottomley decides to get satisfaction by going on the company's sponsored game show with the intent of bankrupting Waters...

Co-starring Celeste Holm, Barbara Britton, and Art Linkletter.

This one is just a hoot. Ronald Colman is always a treasure, and Vincent Price had me howling in a couple of places. Almost a G-rated version of Harvey Korman's "Hedley Lamarr" from Blazing Saddles. The romantic comedy elements later in the film are also nicely done. Very funny movie. 7.5/10

BTW, the poster "looped" the film, probably to thwart the filters. The movie runs about 1:40:00, but starts over after that. Just FYI.

Price is fantastic in this film and Linkletter does a good turn as a smuck turning into a nice guy.

Thanks for the link!

Great movie. Vincent Price is the consummate professional and Celeste Holm is a knockout.

One of my all time favorite movies and maybe the first I saw on a satellite channel in the early 80s at a friend of my mother’s.

I have the DVD as well.

A true classic.

A long-time favorite of mine as well. I first caught it on cable, on a late-show on WTBS in 1981. They ran it again about three years later, and I taped it, watching that tape numerous times over the next 20 years. Then, got the dvd when it came out. My sister even got me an original lobby card poster to it, featuring a good shot of Colman, Price, and Britton. Which I had displayed on a wall for many years.
