REO Speedwagon (originally styled as R.E.O. Speedwagon) are an American rock band. Formed in 1967, the band cultivated a following during the 1970s and achieved significant commercial success throughout the 1980s. Hi Infidelity (1980) contained four US Top 40 hits and is the group's best-selling album, with over ten million copies sold.
Over the course of its career, the band has sold more than 40 million records and has charted thirteen Top 40 hits, including the number ones "Keep On Loving You" and "Can't Fight This Feeling". REO Speedwagon's mainstream popularity dissipated in the 1990s but the band remains a popular live act.[1][2]

Growing up, I vaguely knew about them. They didn't get a lot of airplay during the 1970s, at least in the Boston area. But they utterly exploded when the "Hi Infidelity" album came out.
I was in Marine Corps boot camp in Parris Island most of early 1981, when that album was become a major hit. When I graduated from boot camp and got to listen to the radio for the first time in months, "Keep On Loving You" was one of the first songs that played on the ride to the airport to go home and I was immediately hooked. Even today, that song takes me back to my graduation day of boot camp and the beginnings of the Reagan presidency. Other songs I remember from the trip home was "Bette Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes, "Angel Of The Morning" by Juice Newton and "Rapture" by Blondie. All of them instant classics from the first listen.

Saw them in a small club in Charleston, SC in 1974. Maybe 200 in the crowd. Good show.
Gary Richrath played at our high school homecoming in 1977 in my little home town in Illinois. He subbed for the guitarist of the band that was hired, a friend of his who was sick.

Roll with the Changes was a favorite song in 10th grade. Then I saw REO live in 1984. In between songs the lead singer kept saying, “You know what I mean?” He encouraged everyone to downplay virtue and highlight vice. What a loser. Then I heard Kevin Cronin talk on the radio with Michael Medved on the radio about five years ago and he expressed his patriotism and concern for our great country. REO had a set of top hits but it was and still is sweet stuff. I prefer Robin Sheppard and God Machine.

when I was at Ft Campbell in 82, we drove to Memphis to see Joan Jett, Survivor, Kansas and REO. Great concert.
Same for me. Joined the army January 20, 1981.
