USA Today alters logo to support Apple in fight against U.S. government overreach

USA Today has altered their logo to support Apple’s fight against U.S. government overreach.

The United States government has demanded that Apple take an unprecedented step which threatens the security of their customers.

The United States government is asking Apple to hack their own users and undermine decades of security advancements that protect their customers -- including tens of millions of American citizens -- from sophisticated hackers and cybercriminals. The same engineers who built strong encryption into the iPhone to protect Apple’s users would, ironically, be ordered to weaken those protections and make their users less safe.

Apple opposes this order, which has implications far beyond the legal case at hand. Obviously, USA Today agrees:

Apple did it like seventy times before; allowed the phone to be hacked. So what’s the big deal now? Oh, they support the mussies and their atrocities.

From what I have read, the phones they unlocked did not have the “uncrackable” crypto. That has not been available for that long.

I have been buying apple since the 1984 commercial, but no more. My first computer was a Mac Plus. I have three devices now.

Three thoughts.

1. I remember Madison saying that electronic companies were exempt fro court ordered searches. That they could sell devices which would prohibit the government from caring out lawful searches.

2. I am inventing a file cabinet which is encrypted and cannot be opened by police or FBI who have legal search warrants. Price, only 1 million.

3. Obama should nominate Tim Cook for the USSC so he can rule over all searches and not just the ones involving apple products

I heard the govt wants the master key to unlock any phone, rather than having to ask for each phone separately.

Don’t use Apple products anymore.

But Apple is right here, and I agree with them.
GUBmint wants access? Break in yourselves.

Apple cannot be compelled to destroy it own business.
“Atlas Shrugged” in full view here.

If not careful, Apple will Go Galt and disembark to more favorable lands and let the ChiComs have the encryption technology.

What I’d heard is that if they tried to force entry, the system would wipe the phone’s info. They can’t do it without Apple’s help.

To hell with Apple. The shooters were Islamists. Islam is the enemy. If Apple wants to help the enemy, throw them out of the US and brand them as traitors. Islamist have no rights in my book. Hack the info or face the consequences!

Ain’t it great? When it supports terrorists. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t want the Federales looking at my stuff w/o a warrant. But they could issue a subpoena for things from that phone without being given the break code.

Y’all keep posting this garbage and it isn’t any more truthful the 100th time than the first...

Apple cooperated (with appropriate court orders/warrants) prior to iOS8. But with that iOS came a new level of security and encryption (you see - it isn’t just the passcode bypass the Feds are looking for, they also want Apple’s source code for all encryption on Apple devices - they want free access to all Apple devices (all without warrants). The beds have been angry with Apple since iOS 8 came out.

This has nothing to do with Muslims - it has everything to do with protecting customer/consumer data on devices that are targets for theft and loss - But I guess you don’t love freedom as much as the owner of Freerepublic...

apple’s decision has far reaching problematic consequences. Think murders, rapes, child molestations, kidnappings and on and on. Every criminal in the country will use apple phones. i can see the commercials.

Not going to trade security for Liberty. Too many men gave their lives to enshrine those rights in the Constitution.

I stand with Apple.

Apple and the feds need to define a system in which an individual phone cane “searched.” Instead of just 10 attempts at a passcode and then permanent lock-out. Your explanation leaves the citizenry at the mercy of criminals and terrorists who can just by apple and protect guilty information even in the face of a court order.
