One of the first things you learn in the military is how to move and work with other people. The Sergeants taught me how to stand in line and how to turn without tripping the people I was with.
The quickest and most efficient means of moving a large group of people is to put them in a formation and march them.
This also sends a message to anyone watching that the people marching together are focused, disciplined and ready to fight.
Let's say you need to move a bunch of people from a football field to a park. You need them at the park to fight the zombies. If you just tell the people to go to the park, half of them won't know which park to go to. Some of them will argue to stay where they are. Many of them will just go home. The zombies win.
A disciplined, focused unit will win.
I was very much an individualist when I joined the Army. I didn't see the need to learn how to march. I knew how to get where I needed to go. The Sergeants kicked that individualism right out of me. They didn't do it to be mean or to prove their manhood. They did it so I wouldn't screw everyone else's movements up. It took me awhile, but I realized that the Sergeants were right and I was wrong. I had to get in line. The Sergeants just didn't have the time to sit down and explain every requirement to every person. You had to trust that they had the experience and knew what they were doing.
Now, I could have left. I was and am a free man. But I understood that in order to accomplish great things, I had to become part of the organization and quit fighting them.
This is how I see what is going on here at Free Republic.
We live in dangerous times. North Korea launched a submarine based missile. Our economy is awful. We have a Democrat Party that is more concerned with what kind of toilet you should be using than foreign enemies or your standard of living. They need to be defeated before their foolishness destroys the country.
We conservatives have to learn to move and work together. Notice I didn't say we need to all think the same way.
The Big Sergeant, or in this case, the Big Petty Officer, is trying to get everyone moving and working together. That's how we win. I don't think that he has the time to sit and discuss how things work at his site with everyone. Nor should he have to.
We have to win this next election. Our enemies are strong and want us defeated. Our children and grandchildren will be affected by this election.
The Free Republic cohort is forming up. Get in line and join us and we are stronger by having you. You are also free to form your own organization. What we can't have is people slashing the other people in the cohort.
I look forward to defeating the Democrats.
"Ready! Front!"
Interesting analysis.
See, I do not trust the government. I do not trust their agents that they know what is best for me.
i would have more so when i was young, but that passed pretty quickly’after some real world experience.
Are you kidding? We have front row seats at the self-destruction of the Republican Party and the conservative movement.
"Drop and give me 50!"
:-)
Rah Rah. Man you put into words exactly what I’ve been thinking. I wouldn’t have used the military analogy but since I can’t come up with anything better... good job. I haven’t been active on here since 2009 but I heard things were nuts between Trump and Cruz supporters so I figured I’d check it out. I’ve always looked to FR if I wanted to see intelligent conversation. Now most of what I see involves hypocritical ignorance and arguments based solely on name calling. I’m all for supporting your candidate, but why not do it with tact and intelligence. I’m just hoping the bias of the owner isn’t as true as it seems. If so, it’s been a good run for this site from what I understand. Good post Soldier... OUT!
With fairies, trannies and women in combat and leadership ranks, you think we still have a chance?
*sigh*
The Romans had it patented (start at :41, very cool at 2:24)
Kubrick did one Hellva job in those pre-CGI days.
Yep.
Thanks for posting that.
Serves as a great visual representation.
At least Trump knows how to salute when he gets off Airforce One.
Are you suggesting that “fairies wear Boots?”
Who’d of thunk.
