The USA gave Mexico millions in GOLD COIN to give up all claims to the land north of the Rio Grande and Gila Rivers.
Later the USA gave Mexico even more gold to give up land known as the Gadsden Purchase.
MEXICO’s CONGRESS agreed to these terms and has no claim to that part of the USA.
Exactly.
And, because we were such nice guys in the US, we gave Mexico all that cash even after we kicked its butt in the Mexican War and legitimately won most of that land.
