CRF Frozen Foods Expands Voluntary Recall to Include All Frozen Vegetable and Fruit Products (FDA)

PASCO, Wash. – As a precaution, CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington is expanding its voluntary recall of frozen organic and traditional fruits and vegetables. We are performing this voluntary recall in cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) because these products have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Thanks! I had a product (Columbia River Edamame) in my freezer that was in the recall. I had cooked some of it the other day and I had no ill effects. But food poisoning is not something to risk so I am throwing the rest of the product out. Thanks again for the info.

If it's a voluntary recall then there is little to be concerned about. Listeria contamination is very serious so if there was any there there, the FDA would be all over this as a mandatory recall.

I haven't shopped at Walmart in a while, but I think the Great Value brand is their generic store brand.

Great Value is also on the recall list; however, they got an even cheaper brand than great value called Price Cut. I haven’t shopped there in a while also, but I recently read an article about the brand cuts they are planning.

This list is so big it probably has just about every frozen veggie and fruit known to man, organic or not.
