Talk grows of replacing Trump at GOP convention (Katie Couric alert)
Yahoo Politics ^ | 6/8 | Jon Ward

There is growing talk on the right of replacing Donald Trump, the Republican Party’s presumptive nominee for president, and even chatter about a possible alternative.

As Trump has floundered over the past week after questioning a federal judge’s impartiality because of his Mexican ancestry, Trump’s critics within the GOP have stepped up their efforts to thwart him. Some anti-Trump conservatives, who have tried for months to recruit an independent candidate, have begun looking more closely at attempting to persuade delegates at next month’s GOP convention to nominate someone other than Trump.

“There is a rapidly moving train toward the convention to try to obstruct it at the convention. Trump in the last 72 hours has given hope to people who think it’s now possible,” said Erick Erickson, a conservative radio talk show host and one of Trump’s most resolute critics.

If they do this, no matter who they choose (I think), Clinton will win in a landslide. Yes, they may get moderate Dems that can't stand HRC or Trump to vote GOP. But the base will disappear. What don't they get?

If they replace Trump, then they’re Democrats.

I am not a Trump supporter, but, if the GOP-E cheats Trump out of the nomination, they are committing suicide.
Americans hate cheaters.

That’s the end of the GOP. If missed getting the 1400 delegates, they’d might be able to slip something through although greatly angering the base. Nobody could ever trust them again.

What don’t they get?

Everything.
We’ve been telling them since forever what we want (even before Trump appeared) and they are either too stupid to listen or don’t care.

Of course, they don’t have to listen. They can do what they want apparently. Voting is so outdated.

I get a kick out of the use of the label "conservatives" as if that has any particular meaning, or somehow adds value to the critic. Erick Erickson is a conservative, and he doesn't like Trump. Yeah, wow, what am supposed to do, fall in line behind Erickson because he claims to be a conservative?

As usual, the elites in the press (Erickson is in that group, part of Salem or whatever propaganda organ the elites have in place to guide the "conservative side" of the flock) pretend there is no elephant in the room.

This article is from June 8, not today which is the 10th. We don’t know whether talk of replacing Trump is still growing today or not.

The base can replace the elites much easier than the elites can replace the base.

These Mitt “The Choker” Romney fantasies are just that.

Not gonna happen. If it did the GOP would be banished to the desert for several generations. They would lose the White House and both Houses of Congress. In landslide fashion. And they know it.

What? How many times we were told “Trump is done” from our betters?

The Narrative has to be maintained, no matter what.

More disinformation. Not going to happen. Trump got 44% of the votes and 62% of the delegates. He is the nominee. Don’t take the bait.
