The logo of the national air force is stamped with the famed kiwi a chicken-sized puff of feathers that cannot fly.... We saw a Kiwi in a shelter in NZ a few years ago. Not a very impressive looking bird , but they love it so much that they refer to themselves as Kiwis.
New Zealand is almost like a temperate Galapagos in terms of its native species of birds. Cats and other species brought in are killing them off and they’ve got every right to try and control it. But I wouldn’t be too optimistic about their success.
The good news for NZ is, they are a bit off the muzzie path.

Did you notice that the other woman in the photo was none other than Angela Merkel? So I'm guessing that if New Zealand does manage to get rid of all its feral cats, Merkel will just figure out a way to import more into the country.
