I did a little more research, apparently they are real objects, but all linked together with the main object so you can’t manipulate them seperately:

Thank you for your help, I was able to solve this problem, and I'm on to the next one.

The BOOLEAN MODIFIER isn't doing the cut I desire, I'll do some investigation with the resources, you and other FRiends have provided, and if I'm not able to solve this one, I'll enlist the FR braintrust once again. :^)
