He came across the creature after spotting a sign on a house in Tuscon, Arizona, offering the animal free-of-charge and decided to take him home.

As his owner was a full-time college student and had a full-time job, Neo spent extended periods of time in the backyard - from which he would often dig under or jump over the fence to play with the dogs next-door.
'He built a higher fence to help contain him, but Neo chewed through it and continued to escape,' Cate Salansky of Wolf Connection told the animal website.
Despite being initially welcoming and allowing the wild animal into their house, the neighbors became increasingly suspicious of Neo's behavior.
Eventually, they decided to take him to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona who told them that the creature was not a normal dog.
Neo not only looked like a wolf but also demonstrated the behavior of the non-domesticated animal...
The organisation's former CEO Maureen O'Nell said she told them: 'You know that isn't a dog, right?'
The couple told her that they had been 'wondering'.

My understanding is that wolves can certainly be domesticated, but all the worst traits of “wolf-like” breeds, such as being one-man dogs, rough, prone to property destruction, running away etc., are highly pronounced.
ALSO the PAC mentality may cause attacks I would think.

Leaving him alone & confined to the back yard all day certainly didn’t help to domesticate him.
I would think anyone from British Columbia would know a raccoon.
I wouldn’t suggest doing that to any dog, but you’re right, it especially didn’t help in this particular case.
I had a kinsman who years ago raised some of the most beautiful dogs in the area, Everyone loved to come by and pet the dogs. Kind, friendly, sweet lovable dogs.
Then one day a local newspaper had an article about his pets and how they were half wolf.
Suddenly the town went into PANIC MODE and did not quit screaming about the “dangerous” WOLVES until he got rid of them.
Very beautiful animal, looks like he isn’t pure wolf but maybe crossed with a dog? Either way gorgeous but I would NEVER own one. You can find plenty of dogs that look similar to a wolf but are not. Sticking with my German Shepherds...lol.

Funny, when my dog moved to Arizona he started doing this too. He’d go to a certain bathroom in the basement and push the doorstop out of the way to close the door, then he would stay in there, in the dark, for hours until someone noticed he wasn’t around and let him out. I just thought he liked taking naps on the cool tile in there, but maybe he had some wolf in him :)

Did it turn out to be a cougar? No, no double meanings or sarcasm, I’m jut curious.
But there have been people who have been successful in raising them as domestic animals.
