BTW, this seems to me to be a clickbait site.
5. Ernie Banks
4. Ozzie Smith
3. Cal Ripken Jr.
2. Derek Jeter
1. Honus Wagner
For a contrasting view, please see the

Sorry, I always liked Mark Belanger. At least at fielding.
Did you know he homered off of Nolan Ryan?

He’s listed at #38 on the Shortstop JAWS Leaders ratings at Baseball-Reference.com. Pretty good, doncha think? :)

How they can rank Derek Jeter (some I know think of him as a human petri dish due to his female company) above Cal Ripken Jr., I don't know.
Iron Man and all that.

Bucky Dent for Mr. October

Ripken didn’t play for the Yankees. Jeter did. It’s called bias.

This is just one of those things, which provoke endless discussion. No two people will agree on who the five greatest of any type of player in baseball history. Some will point to stats, some will point on things such as the range of a shortstop, or leadership, which don’t show up in the box score.
To: Mr.Unique
Considered by many to be the greatest defensive player of all time.
To: EveningStar
Looks like A-Rod was the best.
To: EveningStar
I’d vote Tris Speaker or Brooks Robinson (Mike Schmidt and Graig Nettles be _____ ed)

Jeter’s range was considered poor by some.

Id vote Tris Speaker or Brooks Robinson...IIRC Brooks Robinson was 3B.

Willie Mays is the greatest all around baseball player. No debate.

You are correct. Brooks was a 3rd baseman, probably the best ever.
