Lyrics for The Last Stand

In the heart of holy see In the home of Christianity The seat of power is in danger

There's a foe of a thousand swords They've been abandoned by their lords Their fall from grace will pave their path to damnation

Then the 189 In the service of heaven They're protecting the holy line It was 1527 gave their lives on the steps to heaven Thy will be done

For the grace for the might of our lord For the home of the holy For the faith for the way of the sword Gave their lives so boldly

For the grace for the might of our lord In the name of his glory For the faith for the way of the sword Come and tell their story again

Under guard of 42 Along a secret avenue Castel Saint'Angelo is waiting

They're the guards of the holy see They're the guards of Christianity Their path to history is paved with salvation

Dying for salvation with dedication No capitulation annihilation Papal commendation reincarnation Heaven is your destination

In the name of God

For the grace for the might of our lord For the home of the holy For the faith for the way of the sword Gave their lives so boldly

For the grace for the might of our lord In the name of his glory For the faith for the way of the sword Come and tell their story Gave their lives so boldly Come and tell the Swiss Guards' story again

A great song indeed. Not catholic myself, but it gives me a vague urge to take up a halberd and defend the honor of the pope.

There's a young Swedish lady on youtube that has also done a fantastic cover of this song. Also worth a listen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUw0eeSvEgI

I'd further add that Sabaton in general is a very interesting band. It's like a history listen with head banging on every song.

Winged Hussars is also a great song, about the the Polish Hussars breaking the siege of Vienna in the largest cavalry charge in history.

The Lost Battalion is about an American army unit surrounded by the enemy in the Argonne during WWI. Another great tune.

Crusades were a reaction to islamic invasions; we did not strike first. Today there is a massive islamic invasion in Christendom. Mark my words, the last crusade is just around the corner. Well either that, or dimmitude.

I have just recently discovered Sabaton, on YouTube. Love the music and the lyrics, and am really impressed that someone of that ago group knows and understands history.
