Got an 1856 in my bedstand. Anybody breaks in at night is gonna have a heart attack when it goes off! Just make sure there's nothing volatile or flammable in the line of fire or you'll need a visit from the fire department. . . the black powder is not quick to extinguish. I recall it lasted a couple seconds until the last of it burnt out.
