Calexit: Leftists File Papers to Secede, Form New Confederacy(bye felicia)

A group of left-wing Californians, frustrated with the recent election of Donald J. Trump as the 45th President of the United States, has filed an application to put a secession referendum — “Calexit” — on the 2018 ballot.

The East Bay Times reports that the group, called Yes California, intends to circumvent the U.S. Congress:

A “yes” vote would trigger a special election the following March in which residents would decide if “California should become a free, sovereign and independent country.”

Another “yes” vote would require the governor of the newly minted “Republic of California” to apply to the United Nations for membership.

California will boom under a Trump administration. It would boom a whole lot more if they simply got out of their own way.

.
Yes, this is especially true in California, where the blues occupy only about 2% of the total area.

Would be so interesting to see how CA does retaining their water rights from the Colorado compact.

Hmmm.

This would be good for Utah, Nevada and Arizona water resources.

WE get the money back for charging California new water fees based on the fact they are no longer a state.

Just wait until they’re starving and cut a deal with the ChiComs, giving them a beachhead here. No dice.

Cali would be BK inside a few years as an indi nation.. All the taxes and income gained through their ports as goods from China etc slow into the US would overnight redirect to seatac. Companies would move to US proper to avoid import duties and fees. All goods would now be imports subject to export tariffs and fees etc...

Cali gets free cash from all sorts of taxes on goods entering the US bound for elsewhere... They aren’t part of the US they leave. Cali would be BK in under 20 years at most. It’s a laughable endeavor... But they are free to try... Forget we fought a war about the validity of secession and the secession side lost...

Jeff Davis and company fought a war to secede, which they lost. Are these candy-asses down for a war, let alone the possibility of losing one? Or do they think they can push the Union off with papers and ballots?

West Virginia did the same. If these yoyos have got to follow my book so closely, why won’t they buy a copy?

Reality is, most of the US wouldn’t take up arms to keep Cali... Most would happily let them and their leftist pillow biters, carpet munchers and pedophiles go... The productive folks from central Cali would quickly move to US proper if they tried this... And they would be BK in a decade or two.

No commerce during war. Forget the chocolates. They’ll also have celebrities all year ‘round, and find out how bad they really are.

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The combined debt of California’s state and local governments is at least $848 billion and could escalate past $1.1 trillion, according to a new report.

How much Federal money is poured into California to support illegal aliens, who have poured into Southern California?

When they vote, the areas outside of the San Francisco to Los Angeles coastal areas, should declare themselves to be the state of California, renounce all debt incurred by the two large metropolitan areas, and all water should be cut off to the areas seceding from the union. I believe that the population shortly would self deport.

Sure they can Calexit but a few things need to happen:

1. They would have to pay about 2.5 trillion of the national debt as their share of having 40 million people out of approx 310 million people in the USA.

2. Now for their fair share of the Social Security and Medicare trust funds - they could be given credit based on the demographics of their documented citizens & permanent residents vs. the total number nationally.

3. The USA federal government owns certain properties in California that are very valuable. They should have to buy them at fair market and fairly compensate the USA.

4. Since they have no central bank (and they are the golden state) then we expect to be paid in gold. Here is a dollar coin. http://www.usacoinbook.com/item/1857-gold-1-type-3-au-55-150486 - and we need lots of dollars.

5. We may have to loan them some money and Janet Yellen can arrange for a good fully collateralized subprime rate.

6. Some rainfall that lands in California does end up in the Colorado River. However much of the precipitation that lands in the Colorado River does so within the USA. That’s our water :)

7. Since they are the ones deciding to leave then they are going to need to pay for their own wall and whatever border patrol & other customs/immigration expenses this causes.

8. There are other expenses, such as relocating our military (particularly Navy) and international sea commerce infrastructure to Portland/Seattle now that California will be on its own.

9. The total net worth of all real estate public/private in the USA can be enumerated within reason at fair market value. If California’s amount per-capita exceeds that of the rest of the USA then they will need to pay an equalization levy so we’re all on an equal footing in the split.

Good luck California!!

DJT, I think, would see it differently, just as Abe Lincoln did in ‘60.

My deepest sympathies to our conservative FRiends in CA.

We aren't going anywhere. The California militia is armed and primed. Any attempt to subvert the U.S. Constitution by seceding will be met with warm resistance.

I was under the impression that CA was a net contributor to the FedGov. But I could be wrong.

And Mexico will just roll on over? No chance that Russia would kick the US when it’s down, and supply Mexico with MIGs and such? They regard California as stolen territory.
