A group of left-wing Californians, frustrated with the recent election of Donald J. Trump as the 45th President of the United States, has filed an application to put a secession referendum — “Calexit” — on the 2018 ballot.
The East Bay Times reports that the group, called Yes California, intends to circumvent the U.S. Congress:
A “yes” vote would trigger a special election the following March in which residents would decide if “California should become a free, sovereign and independent country.”
Another “yes” vote would require the governor of the newly minted “Republic of California” to apply to the United Nations for membership.

California really was the Golden State, it had everything. Because of that, it’s been targeted and attacked since the sixties at least, and they’re finally getting to critical mass. Letting it go would be foolish, but the attitudes of the majority populace and the state laws have got to change in a major way. That’s sadly not at all likely to happen.
Deport illegals and let them take any one who doesn’t want to be part of America.
The term (chickenhawk)indicates that the person in question is hypocritical for personally dodging a draft or otherwise shirking their duty to their country during a time of armed conflict while advocating that others do so. Generally, the implication is that chickenhawks lack the moral character to participate in war themselves, preferring to ask others to support, fight and perhaps die in an armed conflict.

The trouble is, there are no red or blue states, it’s more like red and blue counties or towns. The portions of California that area already de facto Mexico (Chula Vista) or hipster strongholds (San Francisco, etc) can go to hell, but there are still many parts of the state with conservative communities. This includes much of San Diego and areas of rural California in the Sierras.
I’ll bet money that within ten years the streets will go back to dirt and the folks will be living in cardboard boxes.... just like Tijuana...

I have said in the past, half jesting , we should have an exchange program with other countries of the world. We exchange the people living in America who hate America with people from other countries who love America (and what we stand for) and they come here.
No backsies though. If you leave America you can never come back.

It depends...if they allow illegals to vote, as they normally do, then it could possibly pass in alliance with the wacko left. The illegal population is into the Aztlan thing. The big problem for California will be when the Federal Government wants it’s property back - military bases and equipment. California is taxed to the hilt already, they won’t be able to bleed more out once they have to take care of things like national defense all by themselves.
They will become a relatively poor country when things like the Imperial Valley agriculture collapses because they won’t be able to get water from the Colorado River any longer or they no longer have access to the markets of the rest of the U.S. for their tech industry. Lots of things like that - consequences - that they aren’t taking into account in this little effort of theirs - if it passed, the reaction will likely be “Oh Sh*t! What now?”

Such an effort is to the benefit of the entire US, but for reasons most do not realize.
The left in Sacramento and elsewhere will establish precedent and walk away from any moral authority to prevent the formation of the State of Jefferson.
The State of Jefferson is as conservative as any in the US, probably more so than Texas due to it’s ethnic and rural composition...nearly a Wyoming or Montana.
And that would add two more very conservative Senators in the Western (l)ibertarian tradition. It would also reduce the number of electors and House Reps in CA overall.
