Cue the lawsuit (by the “parent(s)”).
Exactly. The teacher and the school district will no doubt be sued. The teacher will be on paid administrative leave for the rest of the school year. The student (?!!?) will flunk out, but have millions to show for it.
Teacher is probably already up on charges to terminate him.
tomorrow the students parents will report a doctor say he can’t talk and has a bruised windpipe.
I love the so-called “sleeper hold.” Elegant. Simple. The carotid arteries will let you down every time!
Love it...They have reruns of Walker Texas Ranger every night. Lovin’ it!!
That was a horrible choke, at least from a martial arts perspective. It was on the windpipe, that is dangerous. A real choke is on the carotid artery on both sides (and much tighter.) Although I’d have to say, it was so weak I doubt any damage could have been done. Did stop the fight though.
Ohhhhhhh....and it’s not till tomorrow....you can smell it....
Is dat fer yur muhamedan acquaintances?

And will invest in gold teeth and bling bling and will have nothing to show for it in two years.
This teacher has talent! He should be kept and give a raise!
They may try to sue but I doubt it will go anywhere.
It’s to his benefit that it was recorded.
He went in calm, cool, and collected and stopped the fight. Period.
He wasn’t out of control and took no further action after it stopped and than was necessary to put an end to it.
I’d think the parents of the other kid would be glad for the intervention.
“Why no fellow students tried to step in and end this brawl isnt immediately clear”
It’s pretty clear to me. Due to zero tolerance policies a student can be suspended simply for stepping in and trying to stop a fight, so why would anyone want to do that?
Agree. Not a very powerful application of the hold. Done properly, the head is forced forward onto the forearm by the shoulder and the clasping hands draw the forearm further in to compress the windpipe. Gets the opponent’s attention RIGHT NOW.
There is a counter but you have just a few seconds to begin applying it. I do agree it is dangerous as a collapsed windpipe is harder to reverse than a temporary interruption of blood flow to the brain. I believe I have also read that the throat physiology of African Americans makes them more vulnerable to this type of hold.
When I learned the hold in Marine Corps bootcamp these many decades ago, it was called the “naked stranglehold.” (Boot camp was full of colorful descriptive language - most of it describing various sex acts and references to one’s parentage.) I believe the proper name is arm bar chokehold.
The guy is white.
That’s all they will see.
