The worksheet, assigned to seventh-graders at Highland Hills Middle School, presents a passage written by a fictional 20-year-old Saudi woman named Ahlima, who feels “very fortunate” to live under Sharia law in Saudi Arabia. She writes about how she will soon become a man’s second wife and explains her modest dress: “I understand that some foreigners see our dress as a way of keeping women from being equal, but … I find Western women’s clothing to be horribly immodest.”

What the heck else could she say? If she said she didn't like the way she had to dress, she could be beaten or killed.

I think that if the school wants to teach islam, they they should not propagandize but teach it the way it is. Why, pray tell does this school feel obligated to propagandize for Islamism? Is this part of their PC mental illness?

She didn’t want lessons to be dry. No problem. Why not just contrast women’s freedoms in various parts of the world. Just provide facts to the kids and let them draw their own conclusions.

Got to go back to how and why wars between Israel and the 3 mentioned Arab states (plus Lebanon) broke out since 1948. I am not blaming Israel, but one side can’t start wars alone.

SA does not directly get involved in any wars. It’s always thru others, including using the US military. Though SA, to date, supports Palestinian organisations/groups, indirectly.

Also, the main reason for the installation of House of Saud by the British post WW1 was to replace the Ottoman Turks, as the guardians of ‘holy cities’ of Mecca and Medina - on the surface, that’s their main job.

Correct. But the main reason is Iran, and the ever-present friction between SA and Iran.

SA & Israel are mutually leveraging (closed-door) relations to counter Iran’s influence. Israel of course knows it, goes along with it, and is happy with those mercenaries and Islamist groups Saudis and their satellites fund & unleash to divert attention from Israel, deplete their foes’ resources and keep them occupied; it has worked quite well in Syria for example.

As long as Israel has nukes, and is militarily strong as she is, she is safe, and the rest of the folks (including Turkey) in that region will have to toe the line. But if this IS, AQ business, ongoing wars & destabilisation continue, the situation from now on will further seriously escalate.

Anyway, that’s my perspective on this.

Actually, the situation is similar to the Kurds.
Most neighbouring countries (maybe not Turkey) are generally ok with Kurds. BUT do not want the Kurds to have their own fully independent State, which would mean their own land and governance.
