Shake Shack coming to San Antonio

San Antonians will soon be able to binge on 800 calorie Shack Stacks and 380 calorie Shack-cago Dogs with the arrival of the city’s first Shake Shack restaurant, the company confirmed Thursday.

The popular New York fast-casual chain plans to open its first San Antonio restaurant in late 2017, Shake Shack spokesman Adam Shapiro said in an email, declining further details.

The restaurant will sit on the southwest corner of Loop 410 and San Pedro Avenue on the city’s North Side, across from North Star Mall, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing. Construction is expected to cost about $618,500 and wrap up in August, the filing shows. Aria Group Architects, an Illinois firm, will head up design.

San Antonio’s first Shake Shack restaurant will sit on a portion of roughly 28 acres owned by Seritage Growth Properties, a New York-based real estate investment trust. The land includes the Sears department store and a former Sears auto shop.

Shake Shack currently has four Texas locations, according to its website: two in Austin, one in Houston and another in Dallas.

I've heard of Shake Shack. Never eaten there.

Should I be looking forward to it? (Yum!) or (Whatever)

Put some in CA so the moonbats’ heads explode that are pushing their green-eating, salad-shooting agenda crap on us.

Overrated in my opinion. I’ve tried it 3 times. Really didn’t strike me as anything special.

Keep in mind that the Shake Shack founder is a liberal nut who thinks that there is a racist history to tipping and thus, won’t allow it in his restaurants.

I got the idea it was a fast food restaurant. Therefore no tipping goes on anyway.

With a Sears store there they’re going to need something bigger than a SHAKE SHACK to take up the space.

I wish In & Out would come to Houston. I love those burgers and fries!

Good luck competing with the numerous taco wagons in these locations.

Their burgers are excellent but pricey. Fries are just so so.

I would give it a definite "meh"

Much rather go to a 5 Guys, In-N-Our, or a Hamburger Habit.

The burgers are great, the fries are ok. Since you have In&Out, you can compare but I like Shake Shack better.

Really? In and Out have been here for a few years. They pale in comparison to Whataburger.

It’s way overpriced and overhyped, imo.

They have a secret meat blend for the hamburger. Something like chuck, short rib, skirt steak, and one more.

I’m a big Whataburger fan. But every now and then an In & Out just hit the spot. I like the caramelized onions and the almost burnt bun and the fresh cut French fries.

And I especially love that the owner is a Christian lady and every cup had a Bible verse on it.

There’s one in Waco. We’re going up there on the 7th for the anniversary of the day we met and that is one of our planned stops.
