The movie The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo was done to call out sex trafficking in Sweden. It was done in kind of an indirect manner - Colbert wouldn’t pick up on it. Joking about it is sick on a few levels.
They are exposing themselves as the uninformed hypocrites they are. I thought they cared about women? Joking about Sweden’s real problems is sick. Scoring political points with their echo chamber is more important than being informed about current world events, apparently. It never even crossed my mind as being unusual when President Trump brought up Sweden in his speech, when watching it live. His language wasn’t precise, because he probably assumed that anyone paying attention already knew about the problems there. Because of it’s small size, it’s the canary in the coal mine for open immigration policy.
