A 13-year-old boy is in custody after New Orleans police say he robbed a 75-year-old woman at gunpoint Wednesday (March 1) in the Marigny neighborhood.
Officers were called shortly before 4:30 p.m. to the 800 block of Marigny Street, where the victim said she was walking to her home when approached by a juvenile demanding her wallet, police said in a preliminary report.
The woman refused, police said, and the boy pulled out a gun. She gave him her property and he fled, but was later arrested, police said.
Earlier Wednesday, police said a 76-year-old man was shot in the arm with a pellet gun during an armed robbery attempt by a group of juveniles he thwarted by using pepper spray.
