Today, Tuesday 7 March 2017, WikiLeaks begins its new series of leaks on the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. Code-named "Vault 7" by WikiLeaks, it is the largest ever publication of confidential documents on the agency.
The first full part of the series, "Year Zero", comprises 8,761 documents and files from an isolated, high-security network situated inside the CIA's Center for Cyber Intelligence in Langley, Virgina. It follows an introductory disclosure last month of CIA targeting French political parties and candidates in the lead up to the 2012 presidential election.
Recently, the CIA lost control of the majority of its hacking arsenal including malware, viruses, trojans, weaponized "zero day" exploits, malware remote control systems and associated documentation. This extraordinary collection, which amounts to more than several hundred million lines of code, gives its possessor the entire hacking capacity of the CIA. The archive appears to have been circulated among former U.S. government hackers and contractors in an unauthorized manner, one of whom has provided WikiLeaks with portions of the archive.

I some ways I don’t care. When the CIA helps terrorists in Syria, and many other things that are exactly backwards from what they should be, I don’t care when they take a hit. They seem to be way out of control.

The passcode is out.

And who’s fault is that?? The CIA’s. Another example of the CIA being out of control. We should be able to be proud in a general sense of the CIA but with many of their actions it seems we really can’t.
True. The CIA is not able to control their own secrets. Pretty telling.
I couldn't agree more. In fact I'd like to see the CIA dismantled. I think it's a cancer on this country, on the world. But I'd rather see the Trump administration do it from the inside. The CIA's hands aren't just dirty. I believe it's a frigging sewage plant but I don't want to see all that sewage dumped in our streets. Looks like it's going to happen anyhow, though.
If wikileaks has it, I want them to publish it.
The simple reason is everything that information relates to is now compromised once wikileaks has it. Publishing it doesn’t compromise it any more than it already is. Compromised is compromised and if not quickly disseminated it becomes a sort of currency of leverage.
Probably every administration since Truman. They've been out of control for a long, long time.

The only hopeful possibility is that it was rouge unfriendly elements within the CIA that were deliberately careless with the tools. And the only hope in that is if we catch them.
Incompetence would be a very bad reason to have lost the tools.
How else do those attempting to overthrow the US government get charged before they succeed?
Believe me...I'm not defending them. I'd like to see the CIA, and a bunch of the other 16 intelligence agencies, dismantled.
I'm not defending the CIA. Far from it. I just don't want these kinds of things aired publicly. I'd rather let the administration do it from the inside.
So true, sometimes Reddit is word salad to me. 4chan even more so!
BlackState leaker needs to be found and punished. There needs to be a McCarthy-like probe to root out the traitors in every department and agency, and punish them to the full extent of the law.
The years covered are 2013 through 2016. Guess who was Prez?
And who was head of the CIA?
Freepers know that also.
