Daylight saving time may be killing you

Duke Energy, one of the largest electric utilities in the country, included an article this week that took aim at the clock-changing law, which was updated just over a decade ago by a 2005 energy bill. It pointed out a number of adverse health effects that are a side effect of using 0.5 percent less energy per day as a result of gaining an hour of sunlight.

Studies published over the last decade on the effects of daylight saving time have shown it interferes with natural sleep patterns, which people never truly recover from.

... Even worse, medical studies showed that daylight saving time also can lead to death. "Other studies show that the number of heart attacks spikes in the days following the March time change, and after the November time change, the frequency of heart attacks decreases," the article reads.

...

A University of Alabama study done in 2012 showed a 10 percent jump in heart attacks on the Monday and Tuesday following the time change in March.

Good grief.

Nobody needs "studies" to know that having your sleep cycle disputed twice a year is bad for you.

It's almost as if the clowns in charge want the public to be permanently groggy.

Gaining an hour of sunlight. I’m sure you’ve heard this one before, but only the government would think that you can cut six inches off the top of a pole, and attach it to the bottom of the pole and result in a longer pole.

we should just stay on it all year

Or off of it, I dont care. Getting up with the sunrise at 4AM would be interesting in the summer.

It’s true. They actually wait another hour before turning the sun off.

Not a fan of DST. My Dad said they had double DST during WWII.

It’s that extra hour of sunlight that is causing global warming.

I was with a co-worker today who was complaining about how much his body gets screwed up by DST. He’s many years younger than me. No kidding Jack.

It’s an idea who’s time has went.

Get rid of it.

It has no effect on my sleep patterns. My bedroom is as dark as a cave no matter what time of day it is. This is intentional and it is the way I like it.

An alarm clock is a wonderful thing.

Spring forward? Go to bed an hour earlier on Saturday night. Fall back? Thank you Ben Franklin.

Dang Duke Power. Why can't they turn the sun on earlier in the morning so my kids would get up?

If that's the case, I should have been dead in 1984, when I spent half my time in New York, half my time in Chicago, and the other half of my time flying between the two cities!

Exactly my point. Nobody needs “studies” to know that daylight savings time is bad for your health — and that the supposed benefits from it are illusory at best and at worst purely fraudulent.

***having your sleep cycle disputed twice a year is bad for you. ***

Actually the Fall “Fall back” is no problem. You get good sleep.

The “Spring Forward” is a killer.

This is actually good news....

Studies "have found that the time change interrupts sleep cycles, causing fatigue, lack of productivity and sadness,"

Coming so close after Pres. Trump's victory, this doubles up what already exists and should pretty much kill the HilloryRATS, snowflakes and nevertrumpers

Simple solution would be to have DST all year long.

Quite jerking around with time changes.

They need to stretch the daylight hours during the winter. It stinks going to work in the dark in the morning and coming home in the dark after work.

Either that or give us all 6 months off every year.

It's almost as if the clowns in charge want the public to be permanently groggy.

Nearly 200 years ago, the economist/philosopher Frederic Bastiat created the idea of "opportunity cost" and "externalities" i.e.) totally unconsidered and uncalculated costs and problems, caused by asinine government intervention and manipulation.

its one concept that is ignored or loathed by socialists, marxists and social engineers of all types.
