One of the guilty, Darryl Thorn plead his case so to speak at a Trump rally in Washington state last spring and was wrongly perceived by Donald Trump as an enemy when he made noise in the crowd.

He and another guy got carried out.

Thanks Spiridon for posting this. Busy workday.

I will post, comment here and on blog overnight into Saturday morning.

Ego is a big problem in this world, but I’ll post on the blog when I choose to and reflect on my posts afterwards.

The Oregon Standoff story really seems to bother you.

The Constitutional rights of farmers and ranchers tramped down.

As much as bloggers do? Or less?

[[finding two defendants guilty of conspiracy in the takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, ]]

Funny- they didn’t find the dakota pipeline occupants guilty of anything despite them trashing the place- destroying the environment- etc- funny how they pick and choose who to aggressively prosecute- Durn funny indeed

"President Trump needs to issue immediate pardons"

100% correct. This was a trumped up trial that overstated and over charged the people who were there standing for justice. It created a dversion from the real issue of the Hammond family ranchers who are sitting in prison for a crime of nothing - starting a back fire to protect their property. The government tore families apart and MURDERED, Lavoy Finicum, an honest Christian man, to make a show of their oppressive ability.

All four were convicted in this trial, not just two. The headline is confusing. Two were convicted on "conspiracy", the other two were convicted of destruction of government property.

"The jury, though, found both Ehmer and Ryan guilty of willfully damaging the refuge, or depredation of government property, by using a refuge excavator to dig two deep trenches early on the morning of Jan. 27, 2016

The Govt. learned what not to do from the first trial and obviously presented a much better case. They also tacked on misdemeanor convictions.

If you start driving a back hoe across my land and dig a trench in it, for whatever reason, I would hope that you would be punished for it. Whatever else the Refuge is, it certainly wasn't the property of the protesters, so they should have treated it with all due respect.

On the other hand, it's a freaking empty desert of 1 million acres out in Eastern Oregon, and digging a hole, even a big hole, is pretty easily fixed. Not sure it's legit Felony in my book.

The leftist protesters in South Dakota made a much bigger mess, set their shanty town on fire as a going away present, and generally trashed the place.

I'll go out on a limb and say that no one will be charged with a Felony.

Taking guns to an occupation / protest is not a good move. Occupy didn't have guns, and were not prosecuted (that I can recall). I think it was a tactical mistake, and in part led to the death of Levoy Finicum. There are times when being armed does not make you safer, this was one of them.

Occupy wasn’t prosecuted because they’re leftists. The law doesn’t matter to the left, only group identity.

I agree with your statements:

Occupy wasn’t prosecuted because they’re leftists. Probably true. But if they had used guns to, for instance, secure their camps I suspect they would have been.

The law doesn’t matter to the left, only group identity. I also agree with that.

I was not trying to excuse Occupy, only offer up my suggestions for the next protest. If your purpose is to bring media attention to a wrong you are better off not bringing guns. As soon as you have guys marching around with AR-15s saying "we're the militia" you have utterly changed the narrative from "this situation is bogus, these people should not be in jail, etc..." to "Crazy armed militia men have taken over something" .

Especially if you are doing symbolic protests you need to think about the symbolism.

If you want to start a shooting war you need to take your gun. If you think you will have to defend yourself against hostile armed people you might want to bring a gun. If you are doing a PR stunt in the middle of nowhere ... you might want to leave it at home.

I understand what you’re saying, but the media is going to lie about you no mater what because you’re not a leftist. That’s how the game works. Shaping your message for the media is pointless, you have to go around them.

And unarmed protesting was tried at the Bundy Ranch. BLM beat them, tased them, and attacked them with dogs and the media never reported it. When they came back with rifles, they stopped attacking them and let them protest.

What went wrong at the Oregon was the very idea of doing it. It was a leftist style protest that didn’t mean anything to the people on the right. That’s why it went down as it did and why they didn’t get the endless support they got at the bundy ranch.

I see you entered into further discussion on that line of reasoning in another reply/comment. All fine and well.

However, if memory properly serves, and what had been divulged from prior court proceeding were to be true in regards to "guns at the refuge";

MOST OF THE GUNS BELONGED TO UNDERCOVER LEO (Law Enforcement Officers) WHO DID MOST OF THE "GUN" TALKING too!

Kind of changes things, doesn't it?

It's no wonder multiple defendants in that earlier trial were found not guilty.

Who dat' who say who dat'?

You wishing gunner be gone?

If wishes were fishes, gunner could have a fridge full (collected from people who became ecstatic over thought of his departure).

Careful, careful there, Jack Black. You've been had. By the creator (or one of the first users) of the one weird trick.

HG is like; an unstoppable zombie-dude. When he sets down his beer, look out, here it comes. bwaahahah (bloggers beware).

I get a kick out of guys that still fall for the set-up.

There was another weird trick that would show up years ago...but I've seen only rarely.
The post and one-half (numbered) posting. Those can be real riot. Can you hack it?

Heard a rumor.

Could have been started by a blogger.

Sometimes they get things right on their own, instead of always tagging along weeks behind headline schedule, then getting all huffy when folks don't snap to attention to the "news" they be bringin' to all we po' folk out here in Rio Linda.

I had checked, and that one (zot) was still around, back when I took it upon myself to start a-talking to Jack Black like I was smart or something, and had everything figured out right.

Before doing that, I had wondered if he was prophesying, or was just not getting it the other way around.

Turns out I was quite possibly wrong, and he was a prophet. 'Course if so, he got a tip-off lead. That can help.

How I'd write up this episode on that blog I'm gonna' make someday (so I can be important-like) I'm not quite sure.
