Merriam-Webster defines cognitive dissonance as "psychological conflict resulting from simultaneously held incongruous beliefs and attitudes (as a fondness for smoking and a belief that it is harmful)." Given all the hypocritical stances taken by liberals these days, one might expect to see them quivering uncontrollably with dissonance-related tremors, or at least losing a lot of sleep. But I can't say I've seen any signs that liberals are very troubled.
A few examples of their contradictory positions will serve to make my point.
In the March 6 edition of The Wall Street Journal, "above the fold" on page A8 was a story entitled "Iraqis Tell of Brutal Islamic State Tactics." The article is illustrated with a picture of a terrified Iraqi man carrying his daughter while running down a war-scarred street in his stockinged feet in Mosul. It is the sort of image that won photojournalists Pulitzer Prizes during the Vietnam War.
The story goes on to describe the atrocities perpetrated on the residents of Mosul by their Islamic State occupiers. ISIS members planted a bomb outside one 76-year-old man's doorway, in hopes of blowing up Iraqi troops as they advanced into the city – only the bomb blew up the elderly man's wife instead, when she tripped it going to milk the family cow. They park explosives-laden cars near civilians' homes to deter air strikes. Lately, ISIS has taken to using chemical weapons and drone-dropped bombs on civilians. These are the tactics employed by fanatical adherents to Islam against their co-religionists.
Now, immediately beneath that article is one entitled "Same-Sex Parents in Italy Are Left in a Legal Limbo." That story is accompanied by a photo of two lesbian women with several children in tow being congratulated by former mayor of Rome Ignazio Marino.

You need principles, a fair mind, hunger for truth and a conscience to be bothered by cognitive dissonance. 3/5 of the Left goes by ‘whatever it takes.’ They’ll always have that 30% hard-left base, freeing the 15pts of centrist dems and indies out of their grip will end the party forever.
The issue is never the issue, the issue is the Revolution. When DJT fixes everything back but improved, what will they have to revolt against? Prosperity? Peace? Progress?
To experience cognitive dissonance you actually have to think. Most people on the Left do not do that. They are content with bumper sticker length slogans. Try to discuss with them and they will look at you with “but this one goes to eleven” logic.
You know your masters by who you are not allowed to criticize. In order, it seems to be Moslems, Homosexuals, Blacks, and Women.
Conservatives (usually) look at issues we are FOR. And being FOR 2 contradictory issues isn’t logical - we need to pick one.
Liberals are not usually FOR issues. They are AGAINST (the US, conservatives, families, Christians, the Constitution, Trump, capitalism, etc). There is no problem supporting 2 contradictory issues as long as they both go AGAINST something the liberal is AGAINST.
So Liberals can be FOR gay adoption (ANTI-family) and also FOR Sharia (ANTI-US). There is no contradiction in the ANTI components of those positions and the FOR components are irrelevant if the ANTIs agree.
It runs pretty strong among the Bernie faction, as can be seen at the Jackpine Radicals site, who were the former DUmmies that were run out of DU over their support of Bernie and refusal to toe the Hillary line:

It may seem odd that socialists would have a better grip on reality than the lunatic left that hangs out at DUmp but not really when you think about the issues that elevated Bernie during the primary, such as bad trade deals and the rigged system that screwed their guy. Whenever I look at this site I see a lot more logical and realistic thought than anything on DUmp.

Exactly. When the natural economic system is restored, with the crony-socialism weeded out, those JPR folks may well find themselves with nothing to bitch about... they’ll be too busy working and ripping around in the boats on the weekend.
I would say Mudslims, Blacks, Homos, and Women. Because the muds and the dindus will kill’ya. The homos and women just yell and throw things, maybe sue.
Oh I don’t know, while they are curb stomping and macing old men, women, and innocent bystanders wearing Trump hats who were doing nothing but standing patiently for a protest or speech by Milo and justifying those actions by screaming at the victims that they are Nazis, sure looks like cognitive dissonance on the left pegged to 11 to me.
They are the creatures who are inhabitants of the future Idiocracy state. "Of course Gatorade is what you use to irrigate fields. Wait, what's a field again?"
There is no cognitive dissonance because liberals have no beliefs except the pursuit of power. We know from the Orlando massacre that they will leave gays out in the cold since they can already count on their votes. They have given black people the shaft for over 50 years and they still keep coming back for more.

Liberals don’t suffer from cognitive dissonance because that requires thought. Liberals are mindless robots.
