This news has been all over sports radio. From what I understand the Cleveland front office people following the football version of Moneyball want Trubisky. Anybody following the NFL knows in today's game if you don't have a QB you are a nobody; see Houston Texans. The days of the likes of Trend Dilfer QB Super Bowl teams is over. Cleveland can take Garrett and they will still suck. Also, with the rookie wage scale there is a minimal financial hit if the QB is a bust. If the QB is a hit then you control the player, at the most expensive position, for five years at a low cost. My thinking was they should take Garrett, Cleveland will stuck suck, and they will be position to draft one of the stud QBs playing college ball in LA, Rosen and Darnold in 2018.

Based on their history, when it comes to QBs, we can be pretty confident the Browns will make the wrong decision.

I think Cleveland is making a mistake by not acquiring Garoppolo from New England.

I am a Patriots fan, and I am glad they appear to be holding on to him, which is good from an insurance perspective, even if they don’t get anything for him when he leaves.

But I think teams are missing out, particularly Cleveland.

Garoppolo isn’t Matt Cassel II, as people like to say. The eye test tells me that Garoppolo can play, and it says it differently from when I watched Cassel. Cassel was workmanlike in his play...I look at him the same way I look at Alex Smith with Kansas City, with less ability than Smith.

Garoppolo can play. Mark my words, he is going to be good when he leaves New England, as he surely will. I am glad he isn’t going to the Texans or even Cleveland...outside the conference is fine with me.

The draft is a gamble. Every gambler will tell you that sentimental bets are a killer.

Kessler was the fifth best quarterback in the league last year. With no center and a one man offensive line. They have improved greatly on the offensive line through free agency.

Take Garrett then O.J. Howard(if available) and play with the rest of the picks. Get some secondary help and trade for picks for next year. Next year is a much stronger draft. Especially for quarterbacks.

Our Cowboys needs to draft defensive players big time.

Picking Trubisky is much better than wasting a 1st round pick in a trade for the overrated and over hyped Garoppola, who’s only played in 3 games.

If so, then the Browns should be getting Garropolo!!! He is a much better bet than any QB in this draft. It is always a gamble but at least Jimmy G has shown something as a (so briefly) starter in the NFL, and has been trained to a high level by Brady/Belichek.

I read an article that said Cleveland’s owner is in deep financial trouble and needs to sell the Browns therefore he wants to draft a franchise quarterback to enhance the value of the franchise as opposed to drafting the smarter football decision in Garrett. As a Niners fan that realizes you can’t rebuild in one year I would rather have Garrett so I’m all in on Trubisky to the Browns!

Cleveland can take Trubisky and still suck, too. Except then they will suck without a pass rush.

“The days of the likes of Trend Dilfer QB Super Bowl teams is over.”

This just isn’t true. It helps, but a great team is a great team. The Denver team who won the Super Bowl two years ago would have won it with ANY respectable QB. Manning was just a shadow of his former self that year.

They need to go for the sure thing and the DE. Athleticism beats a crap shoot QB any day.

Dear Mr. Jimmy “the Dunce” Haslam,

Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please take low first round QB prospect Mitch Trubisky first overall.

Thank You very much!

Sincerely,

A 49ers fan, anxiously hoping you are stupid enough to override you GM yet again and pull another hare-prained Johnny Football type draft move.

The Texans (Since March 2017) have single-handedly made the Browns playoff contenders in the coming years. Of course the Browns need to make smart picks, but the opportunity is there.
