There’s legends about the some tribes pass down about killing groups of red haired white people. Fits the description of Neanderthals.

Another interesting thing is that I recall reading years ago, that there were tales of very tall (6’6” or so) red headed people wearing deerskins and carrying bows and arrows, in Siberia as late as WWII.

I d/led my raw file from Ancestry and uploaded it to an independent archaic DNA research project, came up with some other surprises as well.
As more individual Neandertal remains give up their DNA secrets, we’ll find there’s less and less difference.
