Saudade

Noun,[soh-dah-duh]

(In Portuguese folk culture) a deep emotional state of melancholic longing for a person or thing that is absent:
the theme of saudade in literature and music.

Filled with saudade today for the choking Caps who lost last night and now the team will be blown to smithereens because of salary caps etc. This was supposed to be their year, even Mike Milbury said so and he hates them. The saudade that overcomes us at times, when we pause to think about the movies and movie stars of yesterday (on TCM), versus the movies and movie stars of today, the words and actions of leading sports figures of yesterday, versus the words and actions of leading sports figures today, and even the FBI boss of yesterday, versus the FBI boss of today (a few days ago, anyway), is emotionally overpowering.
