Half of the country wants greatness and a return to the rule of law, where someone who wants to work hard has the opportunity to get ahead, and behavior that promotes family values and safety in polite society.
The other half wants dependence on government, massive redistribution of wealth, elimination of any gain by those who are successful in life, and acceptance of behavior and lifestyle that is founded in the deepest and basest of perversions.

The “mass media” began as the local town newspapers withered into mere repetitious reprints of the Big Media (always trusted and verified with two sources, right?) AP, UPI, Reutgers, , London Times, NY Times, ... etc Then Walter Cronkite and the ANBCBS triplicate brought 3 minutes video clips to the masses. Then that group bsprend out into its current ABCNNBCBS list of news readers reading the NYTimes and WashPo “guess of the day”
CBS brought propaganda into with NightLine and its copies as Watergate showed that “pushing” a deliberate message for years “worked” ...
Today’s ZEITGEIST is an outright, 24x7 propaganda and lies and suppositions and many, many hours of liberal propagandists “talking” with other liberal propagandists about guesses and “stories about stories.” But Zeiguessed the story - Ze never stated the facts!
