Scandals: The past few days have seen several interesting developments on the supposed Trump/Russia scandal. But instead of causing further damage to President Trump, they're making the entire story look like a multilayered smear campaign by Trump's enemies.
Over the weekend, the New York Post reported that the firm behind the infamous Trump dossier Fusion GPS has been stonewalling the Senate Judiciary Committee, which has been trying to get information on who paid the firm to produce it and how it was used by government officials.
It has been publicly known since at least early January that Fusion GPS was behind the discredited dossier, which claimed that Russia had backmailable information on Trump, and that it was a notorious opposition research firm that was often enlisted to dig up dirt on Republicans, including a 2012 smear campaign against a donor to Mitt Romney's campaign.
As the Post notes, one of the Fusion's founders, Peter Fritsch, contributed "at least $1,000 to the Hillary Victory Fund and the Hillary for America campaign."

they were so freaking blind.
There was ZERO to the whole Russian thing from the beginning. Anyone with half a brain could have seen it.
It achieved almost nothing and in many ways has helped us because it distracted from very real issues and very real changes we were making in the meantime.
I think it’s safe now for Trump to do whatever is necessary in order to shut down the Mueller “investigations.”
The author’s conclusion, with which I agree 1000%:
“Given that this yearlong investigation has turned up nothing, we’d argue that it’s time for Robert Mueller and congressional investigators to start looking at whether the Obama administration broke any laws in its attempt to destroy the Trump presidency before it got started.”
So...
you posted an excerpt of your own article, of your own website, just to garner hits.
The crimes that should be investigated are tho real crimes of Clinton, Lynch, Holder, Obama, Lerner, and Comey. I’m sure I’ve missed some.
McCain had to know it was fake too.
You think...!!
No longer afraid of Obama?
What changed that might have been a continuing club that Obama could have wielded?
I hate TV. Never watch unless someone clues me on a program.
My wife has it on every hour she is awake.
Yesterday I got hat tip here about Hammity’s program. It is clear that Trump and his supporters have had enough of this nonsense. Deep state is loosing the battle, public is not buying it, Trump is going to deal with them.
And when Raqqa falls, ME is going to be a free for all for a while. Will distract from this, but this will not go away.
The truth must be exposed and some do serious jail time. These are not minor charges. My prayer is that Obama himself is exposed, finally.
they were so freaking blind.
But when the whole thing is an intentional lie, from start to finish, that’s propaganda. And when you believe propaganda, that’s just plain stupidity.
A long excerpt, though. This is fair.
Multi-layered and multi-purposed.
It provided cover for surveillance of Trump and his people.
It allowed Clinton to claim Trump was a Russian agent who would do Putin’s bidding... *unlike her*
It allowed DNC to claim Trump’s win was illegitimate.
And it allowed the press to use this to drown out any other story.
Trump came into office hoping for, among other things, a rapprochement with Russia, and to avoid getting drawn into the Syrian War. The constant “Russia” drumbeat has all but made that impossible, and has had the effect of pushing him toward the policy desired by State, which is a near-war footing with Russia and direct support for Al Qaeda in Syria. It will only take a manufactured Gulf of Tonkin incident to light the fuse.
To bypass the cowardly blog pimping, here’s the entire article “IBD” refuses to post so he can get blog hits....

Over the weekend, the New York Post reported that the firm behind the infamous Trump dossier Fusion GPS has been stonewalling the Senate Judiciary Committee, which has been trying to get information on who paid the firm to produce it and how it was used by government officials.
It has been publicly known since at least early January that Fusion GPS was behind the discredited dossier, which claimed that Russia had backmailable information on Trump, and that it was a notorious opposition research firm that was often enlisted to dig up dirt on Republicans, including a 2012 smear campaign against a donor to Mitt Romney’s campaign.
As the Post notes, one of the Fusion’s founders, Peter Fritsch, contributed “at least $1,000 to the Hillary Victory Fund and the Hillary for America campaign.”
The Post story has sparked renewed interest in this dossier, most of which has been discredited, but which appears to be serving as a “road map” to various investigations.
That was strike one against the anti-Trump conspiracy mongers.
Strike two happened Sunday when an internal memo from CNN Money’s executive editor Rich Barbieri leaked. The memo told reporters that “no one should publish any content involving Russia without coming to me or (VP of Premium Content Video) Jason (Farkas) first. ... No exception.”
That memo came after CNN was forced to retract a story it had posted on its website claiming that Trump advisor Anthony Scaramucci was under investigation for ties to Russia. Turns out the story based on a single anonymous source was false. CNN pulled the story and apologized to Scaramucci.
This wasn’t the first Russia-related story pushed by the mainstream press that turned out to be exaggerated or false, but it was the most embarrassing one to date. And it showcased what many suspected that Trump-hating reporters and editors had dropped all pretense of journalistic professionalism in order to peddle dirt on Trump.
Then, on Sunday, the Obama administration started to come under attack. That got started by, of all places, the Washington Post, which offered a detailed account of how the administration knew about Russia’s efforts to influence the election months before the polls opened, but did nothing about it.
Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, told CNN over the weekend that “the Obama administration should have done more when it became clear that not only was Russia intervening, but it was being directed at the highest levels of the Kremlin.”
On Monday, Trump amped the story up, tweeting that Obama “colluded or obstructed” with the Clinton campaign by downplaying Russia because he assumed Clinton would win.
Note what is missing from all these stories any evidence that Trump had anything to do with Russia’s efforts. Given that this yearlong investigation has turned up nothing, we’d argue that it’s time for Robert Mueller and congressional investigators to start looking at whether the Obama administration broke any laws in its attempt to destroy the Trump presidency before it got started.
yOu mean poster doesn’t write for IBD? I think IBD is a good publication........

He may be under copyright restraints from his employer.
I agree it is a good publication.
I would take a different view, they are all rushing to support the narrative and in their greed based hate they have revealed themselves saving us lots of time to ferret them out
Wait for it, they are suddenly realizing they out kicked their coverage and The Wrath of Don is coming!
