Okay, I'm a little disappointed. (vanity)

I live in a Blue Dog area. Most folks here are Democrats. But that's only because their grandfathers and fathers were Democrats. Their grandfathers voted for JFK, and their fathers voted for Reagan. And in 2016 they voted for Trump. Yep, my blue state went for Trump.
So why am I disappointed? It's the Fourth of July, and maybe one house out of ten here has a flag out front. Why is that?

I can understand why my Blue Dog neighbors didn't fly the flag in 2016. The president then was not someone a Blue Dog would admire. But this is 2017, and still there are no flags. Am I missing something here?

Maybe because they don’t want their homes vandalized by those who did not vote for Trump

Exactly! Why make your self a target to these out of control leftists? I’m a life NRA member but I don’t put their stickers on my car, nor do I put any political stickers on there either. My small own is overrun by leftists. Why give them a target?

There aren’t even as many flags out in solid red areas as you might expect. I try not to read too much into it. These things are cyclical.

I haven’t lived behind enemy lines for a long time, but when I did, I flew Old Glory on my house and truck every day. Never had a single incident.
That said, I wouldn’t have put a political bumper sticker on any of my vehicles in those days. That would have been asking for it.

I don’t fly a flag because the flag rules make it like owning a puppy. I keep my flag inside, where I can see it.

Here in Red England, an American flag on your car will probably get you an eyeroll or a nasty look.
A Trump sticker would almost certainly get you costly damage to your vehicle. Perhaps while you are in it!

I dont fly a flag because the flag rules... I guess I'm just a die-hard rebel. I fly my flag 24/7/365, rain or shine. I know that's against the rules, but I feel like this is wartime (in a lot of ways), so it's a statement of defiance for me.

We never flew a flag-——no particular reason, just didn’t,and we were as patriotic as a family could be.
Don’t make too much out of this.

Shortly after Trump won the nomination I put a Trump sticker on my car. A beat up old Camry pulled up behind me at a red light and the occupants -- 4 or 5 youngish looking guys, mostly if not all white, started screaming obscenities, "F Trump, F you, F you wingnut", etc. Whatever...Until they I realized they were following me. I started cruising randomly, highways and back roads, flicking on my blinker but skipping the turns, etc, and they shadowed my every move, pulling right up to my bumper at stop signs still yelling, all of which I was lucky enough to be able to go through quickly. I avoided red lights because I figured they'd take the opportunity at a long stop to get out and surround my car. I eventually put on a burst of speed on a county road, whipped down someone's driveway and watched the jackasses zoom by, then went the other way.
Reached my destination and scraped that sticker right off. I was carrying at the time so I'm really, really thankful that I was able to avoid a confrontation.

Caver- You really feel like you can’t put an NRA sticker on your car in Columbus, IN?? Come on. I grew up there and come back often, and that doesn’t sound like my hometown. If there are so many leftists in Columbus why don’t the Democrats ever win anything?
