Why in Gods name would anyone turn this stuff in? The only way authorities would ever know they were out there is through the kind of search that would tell you they were needed!

This is what happens, when you leave your grandkids your guns, but fail to teach them history.
They should be oiled, stored in an airtight bag, placed in a garbage bag with desiccant. and buried in a box with similarly sealed ammunition

Burying firearms is the worst way to store them. Even with them stored in best conditions.

Above ground storage is more advisable.

Just to much moisture below ground found out the hard way.
