Secretary of State Rex Tillerson may be considering resigning from his job as frustrations with the Trump administration may have him nearing the end of his rope.
People "familiar with Tillerson conversations with friends outside Washington" told CNN the mood in Foggy Bottom's Mahogany Row has grown increasingly dark in recent days, particularly since President Donald Trump gave an interview to The New York Times in which he publicly rebuked Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Tillerson and others are said to also be troubled by the turmoil at the White House, resulting in last week's shake up of Trump's legal team, the hiring of new communications director Anthony Scaramucci and the resignation of press secretary Sean Spicer.

State is a fiefdom of the Council on Foreign Relations. Though not a member of it, Tillerson has addressed them as a group several times saying explicitly that he shares their views and goals. That’s why he got the job.
I imagine Sessions is taking it seriously.

I’d say “no,” because it seems more akin to shouting “fire” in a theater. These media scum are inciting the left to violence, and doing it deliberately.
I simply don’t believe you climb to the top of a company like EXXON unless you’re part of the “team” and can be trusted to obey the machine.
Surely someone senior in the White House understands this is a problem? Surely? I see an occasional comment from someone burrowed deep in presidential personnel that they are hard at work, but I don't see nominees being sent forward. And I see the top people being utterly consumed with p***ing matches on social media and spats with the press.
The Democrats, of course, are perfectly happy with this. The budget process being what it is, Trump has already lost his first year. If he's not careful, he'll lose his second. I'm not close enough to the process to have a sense of what is going on, but I wonder if someone or some group in the Trump camp is so interested in making sure "establishment" Republicans are excluded that they've preemptively eliminated most of the veterans of prior administrations and the Hill who could step in seamlessly and who would know what they're doing.
I also wonder if a lot of good people are hesitant to give up good jobs and take a cut in pay to join an administration that can't seem to get its act together.

The bully pulpit has gone digital. Don’t feel bad. It took me months to realize that and the fact that the traditional media is all but irrelevant. Politesse just doesn’t cut it anymore. Everybody, and I mean everybody knows they lie. Thank God it was somebody like Trump, who despite his flaws is as as pro-American as you can get, to realized it was time to take off the gloves and play the game according to the new rules.

In addition to this, the nomination process has been very slow because some of these nominees are very wealthy people who require extensive background checks that can take months. The nominee doesn't even become an official nominee for Senate approval until that process is done. That's what happened with the U.S. ambassador to Great Britain (Robert Wood Johnson), who was named to the post way back in January but didn't get sent to the Senate for confirmation until a few weeks ago.
I said at the time that the whole thing reeked of a "staged WWE event" to me. LOL.

You are wrong. It might have taken a little longer to submit a nominee because of their wealth. However, it is Democratic delaying tactics that are slowing the nominations. They are requiring a Cloture vote on every nominee along with needless procedural votes on nominees they actually support. At this rate, it will take 11 years to fill all positions.
The turtle should push the important nominations first but is not. He is deliberately kneecapping Trump. Trump should recess appoint a slew of nominees to counter this tactic.
I agree. Trump had his chance to accept Sessions resignation and chose to not do so. So the ball is in his court to accept his resignation if he is unhappy.
That’s a good approach, but the problem with a recess appointment is that the appointee only serves until the end of the Senate term — which would be the end of 2018. A lot of good candidates for these posts aren’t going to walk away from their current jobs to take a cabinet post that may only last a year and a half.
