The events in Charlottesville ignited a fierce national debate on the merits of symbols commemorating the Confederacy and its leaders. But statues of Robert E. Lee and flags modeled after that of the Confederacy aren't America's only reminders of its racist past.
The Washington Redskins' namesake has its origins in a racial slur used by pioneers of the American West to describe Native Americans. Predictably, this ugly reality is a source of seemingly constant controversy, and the debate is brought back to the forefront nearly every time any entity of note takes a stand against it. The most notable example of this came when a federal judge canceled the Redskins' trademark because of its disparaging nature, a ruling now in jeopardy after a Supreme Court ruling late last year.

As a Cowboy’s fan, I agree with the school.....................
Then they should wear Cowboys gear.
More like ‘deeply insulting’ to white liberal elites...
I have Ani Yun Wiya (Cherokee) heritage and I’m not offended except when they beat the Cowboys...;^)
Nevermind "Redskins", soon they will consider "Washington" to be insulting, because he was a slave owner.
Te term “Redskin” was coined by the Plains Indians to distinguish them from the White Man. It was a term of honor. Racists insist it is an insult. More asinine leftist drivel.
All these indian names came about in order to preserve the history of the Indians. None were derogatory. To be called a Warrior was high praise. Other names displayed the same praise. Redskin...it wasn’t derogatory...it was the truth.
Likely 90% of North Bethesda, Maryland voted for Hillary. They’ll excitedly accept this decision as part of their daily virtue signalling. You know? They raise their kids better there.
Oklahoma- The state’s name is from the Choctaw words “okla” and “humma,” meaning “red people.” The Choctaw Nation website says following the trail of tears, it was a Choctaw Chief who suggested the Oklahoma name during treaty negotiations - and he was referring to the people’s skin color.
I’m sure plenty of the students are wearing other team’s jerseys anyways.
Funny how actual American Indians when polled despise this kind of political correctness as a strong majority.
Have red skinned potatoes been banned yet? They’re great for making potato salad. I don’t know if the crazy lefties have ddemanded a name change for them yet.
More like deeply insulting to white liberal elites...
As long as they don’t touch my Chicago Blackhawks.

So, I’m not saying this is gay, but Liberace, Freddie Mercury, Elton John, and Obama all approve.
That percentage is too high. Maybe 60% and the rest wrote in Bernie.
