I think she got a point penalty, but it was on match point so she lost. But had it been earlier in the match, she would have been allowed to keep playing.
McEnroe, Connors and Nastase killed what little interest I had in watching tennis, and my life has only been better as a result of never watching. Like all of the baby gods who are worshipped from child hood because of what they can do with a ball, whatever kind it may be, they have no sense of anything beyond self.
“I dont recall Serena Williams getting kicked out for saying....
I will shove this ball down your gd throat.”
Pure self defense, only the suicidal would try to throw out Serena. She could kick butt with most people 24/7!
I was thinking that the characters of the game had disappeared. One player is about the same as the next one any more - there weren’t any more bad boys like McEnroe, Nastasi, Connors, et al.
I’m perversely glad to see that some of the personality has returned to tennis (although I am not much of a fan).
Has a tennis player ever attacked an umpire (on or off court?)
"Louise Engzelle, the Swedish umpire, reported Fognini after he called her, in Italian, troia and bocchinara which translate as whore and cocksucker. He received three fines from the International Tennis Federation of $4,000, $15,000 and $5,000, to which he responded, according to the Italian tennis website Ubitennis: Today theyre all moralists."
Louise Engzelle...

Methinks Fabio and Louise will be doing the horizontal bop soon.
Just a guess.

Hey, we learned some new words!
(Of course, the truth is an absolute defense. Wouldn’t it be a hoot if ... but, no, she is SO not guilty)
Yeah a lot of pro athletes seem highly arrogant and narcissistic.
Thing is in Italy those words are used colloquially everyday.
“Wouldnt it be a hoot if ... but, no, she is SO not guilty”
They would actually make quite a good looking couple. Maybe they can kiss and make up.
Thanks for posting. Wonder if he would have received the same penalty had the chair umpire been a man.
There’s “personality”, and then there’s the “every knock a boost” promotional differentiation theory of their agents.
“I thought that was a good woman.”
My moral guide has always been George Carlin.
Excellent observations!
You Can’t be serious!!
The picture on his headband is, I think, the logo for Skull Candy, a maker of headphones.
