Owners of fuel-efficient vehicles could pay higher vehicle registration fees than those who own gas guzzlers under a potential change being studied by Missouri state officials.
Another idea, he said at the governors conference, is imposing tolls on drivers at entrances to the state as an alternative to tolling much of Interstate 70 in the state as MoDOT has studied in the past.
The whole idea is to capture (fees from) people traveling through our state that use our roads that dont pay anything now, Messenger said in an interview.
However, McKenna said tolling only at entrances to the state would violate the U.S. Constitutions interstate commerce clause.

They want you drive fuel-efficient cars, but they want you to pay the same amount of taxes or more.

I took the exit into E Stl off the interstate by mistake in 1972. It was a scene right out of National Lampoon’s Vacation. Even back then, there was at least one no-go zone for non-blacks. Man, I wish we had picked our own cotton.

CT has been talking about border tolls for a while now. Too many people drive thru and don’t stop to buy our overpriced gas.
