“They run the stadium like a county fair.” Harsh words from my wife on the game day food experience at Jaguars games. It’s hard to argue that she’s wrong.

[The writer is being very generous. The food at state or county fairs tends to be palatable. You can't say the same for the food at Everbank Field during Jacksonville Jags games.]

Last season my dad and I went to every relevant bowl game in Florida and experienced the stadiums and food all over the state.

Everbank field is a beautiful and comfortable place to watch a game. However I can say without question that our stadium has the worst food and food service of any major stadium in Florida.

Why is it so hard to get edible food at Everbank? Why is everyone behind the counter so confused about the process?

I did read it, wow. Incredible, mind-blowing incompetence.
They should give up and franchise it out to McDonalds; at least it would be predictable and they would have salt.

“However I can say without question that our stadium has the worst food and food service of any major stadium in Florida.”

No known connection, but the owners and managers of this Jacksonville NFL team do not respect their customers. Very poor business model; they have no idea what customer service means.

Yes, the owner is a billionaire. One that is totally disconnected from his customers.

His only apparent concern is to placate his millionaire hirelings.

I haven’t been to a Jags game since he bought them and parked his destroyer-sized yacht downtown to impress the rubes.

But I’ve never had good food at any sporting venue, except for what you can find in the parking lot.

The writer isn’t very well clued in if he expects anything except bad, overpriced food at a major sporting event.

Running out of hotdogs before kickoff does, however, sound like major league incompetence by senior management of the vendor.

I avoid concession food at any stadium venue. The concession contract is held by a single entity (in this case Delaware North SportService). So whether you get a corn dog, a hamburger, nachos, ice cream or beer, the revenue all flows up to Delaware North SportService.

So with a captive audience and no competition, there is no economic incentive to provide quality nor is there any competitive pressure on price so you can charge whatever you want with no fear of a competitor undercutting you.

Most stadiums now charge around $9 for a 16-oz plastic cup of cheap, often watered-down beer. Profit margins on stadium concession drinks (including soda) are well in excess of 90%. The margins on food items aren't too shabby either.

Captive audience + no competition = High Margins with minimal capital input and no incentive to improve quality of product.

Much of that margin of course, goes to the stadium as well as the concessionaire. And if the stadium is owned by the ballclub, as most of them are, then it is the owner of that ballclub who directly benefits by the arrangement.

Big, big money in concessions. That is why the owners want to still fill the seats because that is "unshared revenue" for NFL clubs. Most NFL revenues such as television rights and ticket sales (excluding luxury boxes) are equally shared among all NFL teams.

I never use the concessions at the stadiums though. I always go to a local bar before the game (or concert event) and have a meal there with a few beers. That is where you find the best food at somewhat reasonable prices. Then after the game, I might do the same if I'm still hungry.

He’s comparing the Jag’s concessions to other fields he’s been to across the USA and details a years long effort to give them chance upon chance.

He’s a restaurant reviewer.

This is the home stadium of the team that dishonored America and honored Britain last Sunday. Enough said.
